I like 499ers. It saves me having to search for people with low stats. I simply look for 499 in the rivals list.

These are the players who's stats are so low they have to hide from being attacked. If they had a good defence they would have 500 Mafia.

Not only do they have low stats, they further reduce their stats by removing an extra mafia member! Brilliant! :)

Then I simply blind attack these players.

Since nobody tackled this:

At a certain point in the game, your Thug Life goals(TL) will be to successfully attack and beat another member with 500 mafia or more. Because of these goals, many members decided to drop to 499 to avoid being attacked for these goals, and are known now as "rats" or "499ers".

This greatly reduces the numbers of people with 500+ mob, which creates some other issues. One is that the people remaining with 500+ mob are now taking the brunt of all the TL hits because the 499ers are hiding from it, decreasing the size pool of 500+ players. The other is the vast majority of 499 level players are attacking the 500+ players to achieve the goals that they are trying to keep others from achieving.

This obviously does not sit well with many.

Some say 499 is a good strategy, others say 499ers are chicken and hypocrites. Funzio wont take any steps to fix the problem. So basically you have two warring camps.

Most that are attacking for their TL goals are vowing to go after 499ers after they have done those goals. Sometimes, there will be an event for a week, where a group of people will suspend their TL goals just to go after 499ers to send a message, and will post notice on the 499ers walls. This gets the 499ers squealing like rats, hence the original poster's rant.

That's it in a nutshell.

I think you are missing the point QPR. They don't want to add you to bring you "closer" to 500. In fact, if it doesn't get you to 500, pretty sure they don't want to add you at all. You'll have to ask them tho.

When i was in burner's crusade rat wars 3-4 mths ago. I do recieve whine and complaints from 499ers after attacking them. Some of them reply back with valid reason why they downsize. They are mainly players and don't play Crimecity often and they stats can't match up. Some complaint being 499ers doesn't meant they need to recieve nasty quotes from 500+ers.
So i wanna try to reduce my mafia size to 499, just to feel which sides making more sense. Need to see it with my own eyes. I have 1580 mafias to begin with and trying hard to downside to 499 mafias. But my henchmen has too many!! Lol.
The minimum amount of mafia by my default(due to henchmen) is 530 mafia. :rolleyes:

I'm a non-gold player and I'm with the 500's...

They will only hunt 499's or maybe 490+'s, but if your mafia is dropped to 400, perhaps they don't care. Things more important than the name "Rat" is, most gold players finished or are about to finish TL soon, after that they will only target 499's...

It's not a good idea to hide as 499 anymore, and things only get worse.

It is more depending on the hood for me Alice , some people really have poor hoods and equipments .
Them staying at 499 is infact no use , since the 99 mafia only contributes x4 396 attack or defense .
For those it is a bit silly to stay 499 , more benefit is downtuning so they can equip up beter .

But offcourse there are fat rats , who can be 500 with there hoods and equipment , and choose not to do so .
Those of more interest to me personally .

You can TL on 500's with 300, 400 etc mafia of your own as long as your strong enough to win and you've progressed far enough to have that goal.

Not sure, it's been awhile, but I think they start after the " attack/rob X number player" goals. Someone else might know for sure.

Hh goes on thru level 200. Championship rounds stop after awhile but I have all three running concurrently on my low level serial robber forest acct. I guess I should stop calling it that. It's up to lvl 93 now but it's got no buildings, just trees with hidden gats and MG,s and only 120 mafia with 65 frickin henchman. I did have only henchman but bumped up to smack down a guy who p/ssed in my treeline. Hehe.

You want to support the game by buying gold good for you, I supported the game many times. Now if we remove these "Leechers" from the game what are you left with? Pretty much a game thats pay to win and not free to play.

To me 499 is just like using bracketing system to your advantage to avoid stronger players and it works. Don't hate the player hate the game.
