And what about units spend from gold, if I loose one i battle, it would be a huge blow. Is it worth the risk?

Yes, you get special units.

Also, you cannot lose indestructible units in battle.

A crate will give you, at a minimum, an indestructible unit roughly worth the cost of the crate. But you also have a chance at units worth anywhere from triple to ten times(maybe more) the cost of the crate.
