PS: I wonder if the loot you get depends on your level. So far, I've been consistently getting very few loot (i.e., failed or secret doc/art).
Not sure, I know they do different reward items based on level in MW. I get loot that I don't need. Enhanced bike and colonels vest do nothing for me.

These events are so predictable. Just like I thought, yesterday I got 5 docs, today I'm getting stuck on the 6th after a 7 times fail in a row.
Every event with a good start, I'll be thankful to get the 9th item.

Dont reset, theres plenty of time left, just use gold every hour. You can reset when theres an hour left and you really want it.

...last event I was driving to Florida, for every gas refill I went to McDonald for wifi. Got 6 out of 13 cash tries and 8 out of less than 40.

Well I only thought changing location resets luck...another trick is hold the medium option for more than 3 seconds...

Day One: 5 secret documents, 1 baton, few fail opens before the 5 docs but all failed opens until I went to sleep ~ around 1 am.

Day Two: all failed opens up until 12 noon, one secret document

Notes:
- seems like if we want to win with medium option only, then we have to set alarm for each hour at night. It is a pain, but it is a numbers game too.
- seems like the wee hours of the morning (3 am - 8 am) are the magical times of opens
- seems like there has to be a big chunk of failed opens to make way for a successful open, with a gem/diamond/document = don't get discouraged with a string of fails
- seems to be some sort of connection with low levels of boxes on hand and successful opens (emerald event I had over 100 boxes and kept failing indefinitely)

Basically the events go for about 5-6 days and throughout the event you can pick up what ever special container Funzio is using, ie, crates, briefcases, lock boxes, wall safes and so on. You can get these containers by doing various jobs in the cities/locations or by attacking other players, they randomly drop. Through your accumulated containers, you have the option to open one every hour.

You have three options to open a container, a dull knife (free - with low chance of opening), a screw driver (in-game money option dependent on your level - with medium chance of opening) and a crowbar (use of gold - will always open). The cases can offer a variety of items if you open them, ie, respect points, money, mafia points, but your main goal is to get the 10 of the "special item", and in this events case "secret documents".

On your road to "10" you will get rewarded for hitting the "3", "5", "7" and "9" landmarks. You'll understand it once you get in there. Once you open/try to open one, you have to wait another hour before you can open another. You can access the event by tapping the suitcase in the bottom left of your game screen. Good Luck!

My briefcases barely opened with the cash option today. Opened 6 on 20 attempts, 1000 RP, 4x useless loot.

It's really frustrating/discouraging/boring to get so many "better luck next time" using the medium option. There can be a certain amount of effort that goes into using the cash option depending how you play, and that effort is still meaningless. In two days I've only really been allowed to participate in the event 14 times, all the other attempts at participation have been met with "keep waiting, minus $X. Go buy more gold."

the more i think about it, the more i am ok to miss this 10th item... no doubt it will save billlions of upgrading money... but its in game cash that is being saved... even having billions more in the future due to faster and cheaper upgrades mean you can buy those top end cash weapons...

somehow felt that the devils' down (65% faster recovery) makes more economical sense to use gold to get it... i can farm more bosses that drop good loot that are close to respect items like the tonfa (24 attack melee weapon).

just my 2cents.. i probably wun use gold, unless i reach 9 with 2 days or more left... i have been stuck at 7 for the past 1.5 days... not moving...

I'm not sure if I was unclear, but to clarify, when I say open rate I'm not talking about the drop rate for event currency.

It's not what's inside the boxes that I am displeased with, it's only being able to open 14 out of 40+ attempts that's frustrating me. I put in the effort and I don't even see a few respect points or $25k back for the trouble most of the time.

My event timer is always in cool down unless I've gone to bed. I consider that effort and I do not equate effort with gold spending.

Also, my original "anti-event argument" is the fact that they are entirely based on luck and/or spending gold. That hasn't changed, even though I have had a bit good luck.

Ive had 2 a day so far opening about 12 a day if i get another tonight that will satisfy me minorly.
Not complaining too much as im still satisfied i got the last event item so thats bingo in my opinion.

+1! I got all the end items in the last three events with < 200 gold spent in total. However, I'm extremely unlucky in this event. I opened 20 times all with medium options just to reach 5 in the first day. Around 20 medium opens gave me the 6th and I've been stuck at that for more than two days with around 30+ medium opens and 4 gold opens. Cannot explain if it's just bad luck because others can easily reach 8 or 9 now while I struggled two days just for my 7th! I'm thinking Funzio delibrately did that to take RM out of me to pay for the good luck I had before.

Worst event ever for me. Has frustrated and angered me. I got like 3 documents first day another 2 the next day and then in a dozen and a half tries to get 1 more, for a total of six. Pointless for me to state every attempt since 85% have been failed to open. I only use the middle option and I am really pissed with how worthless this event has been. I have gotten 2 enhanced bikes, colonels armor, and three times $25k and the rest failed to open with cash option.

You think Funzio would be a bit more clever and make the odds of people getting 9 documents much easier so they would buy gold to get the tenth. I was considering buying gold for this event because I like the prize but I wont budge. Different story if I had 9 and only needed 1 more left. I bet they skew the odds near the end of the event I seem to get to nine at the end of most. FF

I have had very good luck this event. On my low level account, I got 10/10 using medium option by the end of the third day. I've never been that lucky before. Couldn't believe it. On my high level account, I'm at 9/10 also using medium option, and hoping that I will get the tenth in the next 50+ tries.

+1. For me, I currently have 2 documents with 7 opens out of 60 tries. The medium option for me is really bad for this event. I have been stuck at 2 since day 1 and I don't think I will get the 3rd document at this rate.

I got number 9 this am at 6. It took me days to get 9. I got 10 two opens later. I was in shock.....LOL!

I would consider your opening rate good. I have worse then a 50% open rate with cash option. At this point I feel like it might be broken for me? Have tried 8 time today and all fails.

Actually, I'm as surprised as you, I'd have expected the opening rate to be worse, but usually it comes with streaks, I can go 5-6 in a row with nothing and then open the same amount in a row.
It don't seem random but to actually be able to predict it is beyond me.

I've kept logs of every single event so far, I just haven't posted them but then again, I just checked and got 30 opens out of 63 tries during Art Crate event and 33 out of 70 during ATM event so still 47% opening for both events.

Numbers might be a bit rigged as I always got the 9th item on the very last day and didn't had many opportunities to open for the 10th later. I assume that the 10th open would be harder and then tone down the opening rate.

To AMG: the first 7 don't actually need gold. I checked my log for all 7 events and find out I've got 7 in the first 2-3 days in all 7 events with cash option only, sometimes even got 9...thought that at least could save gold for several crates

I just received doc #10!!! Used cash for 1-8, cost me 555 gold including a dozen timer resets just now to get 9 & 10. After 24 attempts and still no #9, I got mad and reset timer a few times and got both 9 and 10 tonight. Details on page 2 of this thread. Good luck everyone!

This event is broken. The cool down timer made me wait 80 minutes this morning! I opened a briefcase, set an alarm for one hour, and when it went off I had to wait 20 more minutes.

I don't spend money on something that's not working properly.

its true feng, this is only my 2nd event where i really payed attention to it and tried to check my phone about 12-14 times per day, all medium option and i got my 10th item in both events with over 2 days to spare both times. It can be done, patience....

also there will prob be a new event within 2 days of this one ending, it looks like this is going to be the norm going forward, so spending gold on all of these events seems ridiculous when there is almost always an event going on

Well this event was similar to burner. On burner I never got 10th and spend from 9th roughly 1.5k gold. This event from 9th to 10th roughly 2400 gold = 160 uses. I would say I opened roughly 100 briefcases since 9 plus 60 resets and got nothing. I stopped using gold and something like 7-10 cash openings later got 10th. I understand Luck thing but over 100 succesfull openings and no briefcase? Thats not cool...

80-0 crates/briefcases/etc no 10th item .
You just keep tossing money at it or admit defeat , most of us have been trough that route with the burner .
Think Xira is the highesy amount ever .

I bought $60 in gold for the event and ended up using $45 of it and getting the 10th item. I did not think it was going to work out this way this time. Wow - that's the sub-1% chance that I was theorizing about earlier, while comparing this event to emerald burner. On one account, I got 10/10 in three days using cash only. But you can spend 2500 and not even get from 9 to 10? That is just wrong. Just plain wrong.

The lesson I've taken is that it's just not worth it to spend gold, because no matter how many you open, you still have the same single digit percentage chance of getting the final item. Stated differently, how in the hell is this any different than letting people play the lottery for free and letting others pay, but everyone still has the same chance of winning? This is absurd.

Ultimately, it just burns the pay to play folks, how is this a good outcome?

When you spend gold and get something as crappy as a mafia member, they should really just "award" you a piece of e-poop that drops your stats, because they basically just took a dump on you. Egads.

Well, against all odds, I just got number 10 on my high level account. Probably did on average 22 attempts per day with cash. I wish the people that used gold were virtually guaranteed to get it, because otherwise it's just not fair. It's ridiculous.

To show how it works with the dice, it now makes far, far more economic sense to upgrade a night club to level 2 than build a new one. It costs $40 million and takes 144 hours to build a night club. With the striker and dice, it only costs $46.67 million and takes 43 hours and 12 minutes to upgrade a night club to level 2.

I bet an upcoming event will have an item that reduces build time.

Anyways, wouldn't all that time spent...would've been better spent on ACTUALLY saving the dough for upgrades inregards to stats and/or expanding of the hood? you lose $14,300 EVERY hour with 70% of failure of opening and 90% of gaining junk. I finally realised that and gave up on case 8.

300 gold was worth "SEALING" the deal?!? dude street fighter volt which is a great port to iphone and is a COMPLETE game and THAT costs less then your pixelated virtual gun (which i guarantee another one will replace that soon enough) considering 300 gold is worth over 20 REAL dollars. SFvolt was actually 0.99c when it came out. Whats the deal with people having money to throw around especially in a free phone game? frankly your item won't improve your game and if it did your entire stat is probably full of gold stuff anyways which is why you're so strong i.e you bought your stats making your event item pointless

anyone noticed that all the in-game money spent and sleepless nites on the game i.e every hour playing religiously and dedicating your all to the game (even heard a loser question should he give up sex just to collect on his buildings *coughloser*)

Anyways, wouldn't all that time spent...would've been better spent on ACTUALLY saving the dough for upgrades inregards to stats and/or expanding of the hood? you lose $14,300 EVERY hour with 70% of failure of opening and 90% of gaining junk. I finally realised that and gave up on case 8.

300 gold was worth "SEALING" the deal?!? dude street fighter volt which is a great port to iphone and is a COMPLETE game and THAT costs less then your pixelated virtual gun (which i guarantee another one will replace that soon enough) considering 300 gold is worth over 20 REAL dollars. SFvolt was actually 0.99c when it came out. Whats the deal with people having money to throw around especially in a free phone game? frankly your item won't improve your game and if it did your entire stat is probably full of gold stuff anyways which is why you're so strong i.e you bought your stats making your event item pointless

i have 3 event items and still getting r@ped by people who have spent hundreds to over 1000 dollars in the game
