I actually believe there will be another sale, the reason is that the combination of the events with the sale, makes playes like me, spend real money, which is what they want for their business.
there are alot of player that play free, and only buy gold for events, I could not buy last time, and did not think they would put another event just 2 days after the last one ended
well that is life, let's have fun, at least if I do not make it to 10, I can later use them to 'trade' for an 'epic level unit' like Lizz mentioned

Another event (yawn), guess who won't be getting frustrated on this one. Me - I ain't playing. I am tired of these stupid teasers where Funzio lets you get 80-90% of them, then makes it freaking impossible to get the last one. I still think Funzio employees are the ones posting that they are getting the 10th items, I don't recognize the names and their member dates are always recent. The chance of your getting a prize is rigged and they should be posting the odds. Go on fools, buy gold to open those kits. The smart ones will just buy gold units outright and save cash and frustration. If they really wanted to make a good prize, they would cut upgrade time by 30%, not the cost.

Would be interesting to see whether those who are currently experiencing high success rates are people who have not yet got to 10 in an event (VIRGIN), and conversely whether those currently experiencing high failure rates have got to 10 before (PRO).

If so, might this event have a built in tendency to favor VIRGINs over PROs?

You don't have to try it. Other's have tried it and it "seemed" to work. Note that there are quotations around seemed.

I think you're giving up way too early. If it were that easy to get and open boxes, and within the first few hours, it wouldn't be challenging or fun. You have days to get boxes. Trust me, it will get better.

So far got 1 vaccine, 1.25mil and the rest were sorrys. Probably the worst start i've had so far. Open rate is usually good on the first day, and i usually end it with at least 2 or 3 parts. If this means the open rates will be good for the last 3 days then that's fine with me, but i doubt it. Even the open rate drops to like 5% everytime on the 3rd and 2nd last day for some reason. Last day they start opening again to give you some hope, but never have a part drop.

Event also always seems to start 12 hours late for me. I was up at 3am last night when it was supposed to go on in my time zone. Re-entered the game multiple times and nothing, so i finished what i was doing and went to bed. Got up at like 8am the next day and checked multiple times before heading out. Still nothing. The event had not started for me until i got home at around 4PM and by then the timer already read 6 days 11 hours.

Went 0-6 all sorry before I finally open #7 and the loading wheel kept spinning for like 30 seconds and finally I received a vaccine. Going to have to dig deep for this drop rate. 6.32 mil spent so far....ouch

I was on a super roll today. 6 opens, 5 vaccines. Then funzio went down for a few minutes, no vaccines since... 4 tries. (Yes, I am resetting. I believe in going full force day one or else...) I was hoping for 9 or 10 before bed at the rate I was going, but since the "server errror" it seems like the vaccines and boxes are harder to come by.

I'm sure you still can. I was assuming the rival had to have boxes in order to steal them. That being the case, this early in the game if they haven't collected from their money buildings, then I assume they haven't been playing and wouldn't have boxes yet.

Sorry. Good point. I do the same. If they're not collecting, they're probably not holding any boxes to steal.

Funny, I've collected several on raids on ore mines, recycling centers, HQ, etc. Some people are just clueless I guess! Of course, still only 1 open of about 9 tries. Gotta be better tomorrow.

Another one of the problems at my level with these events is these last few levels seem to be the stage a lot of people stop actively playing or something. Base after base of uncollected money buildings and no signs of any of the incremental rewards of the most recent events.

It wouldn't be so bad if the money buildings were worth raiding but most aren't. Add to that that I need to restart the game after every two bases visited to reduce my chance of crashing when attacking and it makes it hard to get anywhere in pvp. Thinking of moving the game to my iphone for these events.

pve has been dry for hours now.
