Any rhyme or reason to the length of the newsfeed?

I had a fairly long newsfeed with 20+ entries that dated back a few days. Today it only shows to last night and 11 entries...

I was bummed to wake up and see it so short. There were several cash cows on it that I wanted to milk a few more times

your newsfeed is shorter too? maybe we have been castrated. Or circumcised??
