What does an extra allie mean?

Hello,I received 3 extra allies when I opened cargo boxes.I have the max number of allies at my level.Does the extras go into battle? If they did it will put me over the limit.If they do fight,I should have 4 units for each extra allie.Where are they and are they useable? Hope their not sitting around like the grunts! All help is appreciated,Thanks

You get grunts when you leveled out on missions.

They add to you total ally units and if you hadn't planned on getting more allies, they just screw things up and you have to delete someone else on your list to keep things even. They are worthless at best,

Like any other ally, they let you bring units into battle same as adding one that you really want.

If you're already max ally, this really isn't too much to worry about. Grunts suck mostly because at limited ally you have to get rid of an actual human player in order to keep your small ally count. If you're at max, you can have more than 500 allies, just that's the max usable number-any extra is just that-extra.

It would be nice if Grunts were separate from actual allies and allowed you to bring another 4 units into battle. With a max of 1 usable per level.
