Buying weapons but no increase in stats?

Hi everyone My first post here and I'm looking for some help. Why is it when I buy weapons sometimesmmy defensive and offensive points does not go up?

because you have weapons that are already stronger than that weapon that your mafia is already using. so when you buy it your stats dont increase cause its not getting equiped to your mafia which means you need to get weapons that are stronger than what your mafia is already equipped with so that you can increase your stats

One thing I have noticed on my Ipad is that when I get weapons my stats do not increase. Shut the game down and reopen it and the increase is now there.

Although what xclusiv said above is very likely. What I did (very tedious but worth it i think) is do a simple spreadsheet listing all my items - separated into different tabs, one for guns, melee etc etc. Then did a sort for attacking and then defense so I could see which areas needed improving. Once you have done it once, it is just a case of keeping it updated.
