Wait a minute, is the detention facility a water defense? Looks like it might be - Alcatraz type facility?

Land expansion is too expensive as it is now. With these new ones it's gonna cost me a fortune to expand any more!

You're lucky my current one is 13mil, I don't know what's next but at that cost a desalination plant will have to be a very long term investment indeed!

It still is free indestructible defense for your defense score, though.

Free, it's going to cost me 15mil just to buy the land to build one on!

And hardly indestructible.... Can be knocked out by a determined player, negating it's defensive value until reset.

StuN
04-07-2012, 02:49 AM
How is it free? It says $960k plus the cost of the land & TC is right, it's not indestructible

Hellstorm

Defense buildings only add to your defense score when being raided not attacked... And since most people attack it doesnt really add to your defense score. Oh and as mentioned before its not free ;)

EnjoyLife
04-07-2012, 05:28 AM
Free? Who knows what I was thinking. I was half-asleep :)

True, they can knock it out, but it's free to repair. They have a lot of my buildings to knock out, if they are going to go that route.

Defense buildings help defend against attacks and against raids.

JMC
04-07-2012, 07:04 AM
Defence bring up your alliance defence score, so it helps with attacks as well. Likely helps against raids more, but how much idk. It's also much easier for the enemy to win a raid, so it all cancels out.

I don't see any of the new buildings yet. And Geothermal is old like someone else said.

JMC

I think the detention facility is about the size of an armory.

I've got to expand twice in the water and 3 or so times on land now. Gotta make 60mil+ for the land.

Where do you guys get these numbers at?Originally from Tramp Stamp's spreadsheet. I've made my own updates and have been tracking separately since there were some missing data.

You could also use a land square (14x14) as a reference and overlay a building without building or permanently moving it then count the difference in squares (movement by row or column in any direction is 1 square).

Count the units of measure when maneuvering the buildings around. You get 10 units of measure (tics) going both ways on the Military Market. A land expansion is 14x14 (if I recall correctly).

The detention facility is the same size as the command center.... Where is everyone getting the measurement from? Can't be from measuring the screen?? Would be different from iPhone to iPad.. I think the mine field is still a better buy, smaller and greater range of coverage.... Which I don't think it really matters, if your army is strong enough to fend off attacks.

Are you just going off the spreadsheet? because a military market is way bigger than the command center.

Hello Kitty

Here's a quick lookup table:

I originally used a spreadsheet from another player who I believe had access to code. I have since have been validating the dimensions as I go. It can be easily done using a land or water square (14x14) as a reference and overlaying a building without building it or permanently moving it then count the difference in squares (movement by row or column in any direction is 1 square).

Note: My command center is 10 x 10. I have received feedback that there is an 8 x 8 dimension. I started playing beginning of March 2012, so perhaps there was a change?

Are you just going off the spreadsheet? because a military market is way bigger than the command center.Originally went off the spreadsheet, but I've been validating every building as I build them. If you were to move a command center and place it over a military market, it's exactly the same footprint.

I think there was a bug that was talked about a while ago about some people having 2 command centers. One big one and one small one. Looks like you guys are stuck with the big one.

These are the building sizes i know of:

4x4
Oil Derrick, Storage Silo

5x5
Guard Tower, Turret, SAM Turret, Railgun, Flak Cannon, EMP Cannon

7x7
Minefield

8x8
Command Center, Supply Depot, Wind Farm, Munitions Stockpile, Bunker, Holding Cell

9x9
Armory, Communication Center, Space Center, Fortified Bunker

10x10
Steel Mill, Military Market, Robotics Facility

11x11
Air Field, Composites Factory, Diamond Mine, Weapons Factory, Ore Mine, Chemical Plant, Barracks, Electronics Factory

12x12
Electric Power Plant, Oil Refinery, Recycling Plant, Elite Training Facility, Nuclear Power Plant, Natural Gas Plant, Geothermal Plant, Nanotech Factory, Infirmary, Genetics Lab, Cement Factory, Oil Rig, Navel Research Facility

13x13
War Factory, Advanced Air Base, Satellite Array

14x14
Shipyard, Dry Docks

16x16
Airship Hangar

Oh, yeah, they are the same size.... If Funzio comes out with a "Round" building- you will all be messed up!For sure hound! Then I will have to reevaluate my entire land square footage to include the area of circles (pi * r^2 formula) in my calculations. But since the land is in a square, I will just estimate using the diameter of any "future" round building. So far I have maximized my available space and have only lost a total of 12x12 to the uneven size buildings. My biggest solid wasted space is 5 x 3, then the next is an 11 x 1 row.

Next "Friday feedback"' I will recommend Octagons and Hexagons! This will put a new meaning to fitting a round peg into a square hole!
