Is there a maximum amount of Gatling Guns you can have as they have disappeared from my Defence Building list?

Yea it's 50. I have 50 gattling turrets, after that i couldn't build anymore.

There are a few threads on this, the Thai center seems to get votes, and the missile launcher which is 500k each. But the overall opinion is build your economy as defense buildings do not contribute that much defense...but looking at many hoods the Thai center and Gatling guns are quite popular

I have the 50 gatlins which I'm upgrading..you get an extra 12.5 per levelup...building turrets now...long buildtime and expensive but small footprint like gatlin and meaty def...I like satellite buildings too..just upgrading them to level4

Gatlings only x 50, all at L1 - no plans to upgrade them.

Also just reached Level 115, so first Missile Launcher underway. Plan is 50 of those too, which adds 2100 true defense. I'll probably have stopped playing before I get to 50 launchers though.

On my junk account I have 50 Gatlings and 4 x Bodyguards (I bought those before the 'leveled up defense buildings are junk' revelations), I am currently upgrading those from L7 to L8 - some say this is a waste of time, but the numbers on those upgrades are heavy, even if I am only getting a percentage as actual functional defense.

I guess this begs the question... If the Bodyguard Agency upgrade from L7 to L8 is around 120 listed defense points, how many of that additional 120 are actual counting against robs?

Just a thought... given that many of the players aren't on the forums I think these defense building might be a good buy anyway. They inflate the numbers and keep people from targeting you. I seriously wouldn't touch anyone over my attack score when until this month. Now I will hammer people several thousand above me (level 65) and I think they are surprised... That probably changes when you get higher as more experience
