I hate when that happens. Especially the expansion. Mine used to always get done at like midnight. So I just left if one night and waited until morning to get it on an appropriate schedule. Have do do the same thing with money buildings once in awhile.

I used to play on a second account on my wife's phone (I was trying to use all experiences that i got to build a stronger base than i had already) but i think she got so tired of seeing myself asking for her phone that she started playing it now. the result is that she has a better base than mine and she is 30 lvs below. Sometimes i get up and go back and she is on the phone collecting all money. Although, she still calls me an addicted, lol.

I think the electric plant is probably the best out there. Level 10 is like 360K every hour. Pretty good. Get a couple million off it every day.
