Is it bad to buy alot of one type of unit?

Is it bad to buy a lot of one unit? Right now I am buying the highest unit I can and I seam to be loosing one every time I battle. I do have a lot of other unit as well but no matter what it seems to take whatever the highest price unit there is. I do get lucky sometimes but 6 out of 10 attacks take the highest price. What the hell is going on here?

I know everyone is going to say upgrade my infirmary. I am I am Any Thoughts? Or does this happen to anyone else?

no it's not. My army current consists of about 5 different units. You might want to look into using lower casualty rate units. you also might want to use cheap high casualty units as cannon fodder.

Update: I just did twelve battles and every time lost my highest priced unit. This is just pushing me towards camping more and more. If I loose the highest price unit every battle then Its not worth it at all to raid or attack. I guess I will have to camp for a couple weeks so I can build up the infirmary.

Judicium- I do have the cannon fodders but it seems to skip over them and take out my lowest valor units. So either valor units or high price units. Very strange and aggravating. I try to buy the lowest casualty rate vs attack point I can.

Just to clarify for us noobs to this game . . . If for example I have 300 medics as my army, and I get my upgrades to be able to buy . . . say sea scouts, the game mechanics will automatically put in the higher ranked unit for defence or for attack as needed . . . CORRECT?

So, once I level past the the usefulness of medics and I have enough sea scouts to replace the medics, what happens to the useless units? Can I sell them? Is there a "food cost" or some other disadvantage to having tons of units (other than the initial purchase cost?)

The short answer is it will depend on the unit(s) you are buying vs the defensive units your rivals have. For example I try and target super hornets and stealth frigates since mostnattackers are looking for two things, cash or valor and if you target their valor units they are less likely to want to loose more than they gain.

For max strength buy gold units if you are living up to your name otherwise that might make you a target later on....

Thanks for the advice Agent Orange. As a new player I got sucked into doing the missions and got myself to a level where I was getting pounded :) Live and learn. Now I am focussing on the defence for a while so I can progress. As for gold, like you I am a free player, so that wont be happening any time soon. I'm a Torontonian as well. Cheers.

moneybags - do you have your cannon fodder at 30-40% of your army?

colonelbob - you are correct. the game will automatically take your stronger units. unless you are already at the army cap, then you can raise your alliance numbers so that your army gets larger and begins to include the medics again. the initial purchase cost is the only direct disadvantage to stocking up on defensive units. the other indirect disadvantage is that it slows slows down your late game disadvantage. however, don't look at all your medics as "wasted" units. think of them as the great protectors you had when you were "younger" lol

Everyone speaks of cannon fodders and all that. I have a total of 595 units and I have purchased cannon fodders that are never used. People are always saying that the highest attack will be used in attacks and the highest defense will be used when being attacked. But for example my last battle I used 116 transport ships that I purchased for defensive measure not offensive. I purchased units that have higher offense then the transports do so the transports are not used yet the transports are used and the other higher offense units are not. Explain that?

So the obvious explanation is the funzio is trying to make it so you don't buy just a lot of one unit. So spread out the units at may 20 percent per unit. My only problem is that I have been dominating my economy so I have not upgraded any of my unit building which explains why I have so many submarines. Its obviously the highest attack unit I can buy without buying gold. So any one want to give me some pointers or some explanation due to there own experiences?

I find there is a sweet spot in the number of units sometimes. I bought 30 leopard tanks and promptly lost 5 right away then things seemed to level out and I started losing meat shields again.

Most of your units are Submarine, Transport, Frigate and Combat boat

So..
Submarine has Medium Casualty Rate
Transport has Very Low Casualty Rate
Frigate has Very Low Casualty Rate
Combat Boat has Low Casualty Rate

Since most of your units are submarine and they have the highest casualty rate, then it will be most likely that you will lose submarines when fighting.

With this mix of course you will lose a lot of submarines. Half of your forces are subs, they are medium casualty. The other smaller half are transports, with very low casualty. Your submarines will drop like flies.

You want your weaker/cheaper units to have higher casualty than your more expensive units.

yes they will. when people buy cannon fodder, it's usually a high casualty infantry unit or something. since those are the most vulnerable and cheapest to buy.

You guys are definitely right, I just purchased about 200 snipers and out of 12 battles I only lost 1 submarine and 11 snipers, Perfect. Its a lot easier to loose a 10000 dollar sniper then a 66000 dollar submarine. Thanks for the advice!!
That was a very amateur mistake on my part.
