Wall Safe Event is live!

Wall Safe Discovery:
Wall Safes can be obtained from any PVe action, or from attacking a rival. All jobs and attacks have a chance to drop a Wall Safe, although you cannot get them from your hood.

The rate in which Wall Safes drop is directly related to energy cost of a job (PvE) and a fixed value for stealing in PvP. The higher the energy cost for a job, the better chance at getting a Wall Safe.

When a Wall Safe is found, it will fly into a special UI icon which is located at the lower left hand side of the screen. Tapping this icon brings up the events window.

Loot:

4 pieces of loot are tied to the event.
Different levels see different loot for each item:
[10-20] [21-50] [51-80] [81+]
Loot is automatically placed in a players inventory once the amount of Emeralds for each are found.
The last item (10 Emeralds) has an item bonus which removes the deposit fee. As long as a player has this item in their inventory, it will function properly. It does not have to be equipped by them or their mafia.

Lockpick Kits:
Players have 3 choices as to how they want to open their lock box.

Screwdriver: (Free to use and a low chance to open.)
Blow Torch: (Cash to use, scales with players level, and a medium chance to open.)
Dynamite: (Gold to use, fixed value and a guaranteed chance to open.)
Once a player taps one of the lockpick buttons, 2 things can happen; they can successfully open the Wall Safe, awarding loot, or fail to open.

If successful -> a Wall Safe is subtracted from their total.
If they fail -> they do not lose the Wall Safe.

Safecracking Cooldown:
All attempts at opening a Wall Safe will trigger a 1 hour cooldown. A player is only allowed to open 1 Wall Safe per hour. If they wish to open more, they can choose to use the reset timer function. This costs 15 gold. Once reset, they are brought back to the main events window where they can attempt to open another Wall Safe.

Emeralds:
This is sort of an event currency. Emeralds have a chance to drop anytime a Wall Safe is successfully opened. Players will need to collect Emeralds to obtain the loot seen in the main events window. Once 10 Emeralds are collected, the end event item is awarded. At this time, players may still open Wall Safes, although Emeralds will stop dropping.
The rate for emerald drops is gradually reduced as your total number of Emeralds increases. This never becomes a 0 or below-0 number.

Just so you know, you may need to close the game and open it again to see the event as it requires a data update.

Very excited and grateful to have another event. Noticed the timer is 6 days 4hrs. If rates are similar to the last go... I think it might be a real stretch for any non-gold attempts. I saw the timer for the MW event was 10 days. Any chance this wasn't the intended time and this might get adjusted out?

Again, just a question, happy to have a shot at this, and perhaps the drops are increased anyways!!!

Try logging in and out a few times first. Reinstalls can reset your data version, so only try that as a backup. If it continues to not show up after a few, let us know.

Energy refills only refill 1000 energy. You likely had 65 energy at he time when you got the refill. If you look closely, when you tap the option to refill energy there is a lightning bolt with "1000" next to it. This is supposed to indicate that one refill = 1000 energy, not a full bar.

I'm actually disgusted by this increase. 50% is a HUGE hike from one event to the next. The event looks very similar, albeit with a slight different flavour. The rewards are similar in their power, including a high level enchantment on the top of the range reward.

I want to be clear though, I really really like these events, they show a whole new level of potential for the game. The rewards are good, the free bank deposits will hopefully be excellent. I say hopefully, because I hope I can get to 10 emeralds without spending gold this time around.

Last event, I spent the equivalent gold to what I had on everything else in the game. This probably makes Funzio happy, but it makes me unhappy. What's it going to be next time? 20 gold? 25 gold? Keep pushing it up until the net cash return (from the event) diminishes rather than increases?

Again, it comes with no explanation. No "Guys, we're increasing the cost of the top opening method, but here's what you get extra", or "we've increased the cost, but also increased the chances of you getting an emerald each time".

Maybe, just maybe, that's what they've done without communicating with the committed player base on the forums. I hope so.

Just open and exit the game a couple times, and also close it from the multitasking bad (pressing home fast 2 times) it took me 12 tries till i got the event.

Ive gotten 2 from PvP both from different people, but I think the last event CC Mark said they have to have them so you can loot them because it subtracts from their inventory.

This is far too close to the last event and it is driven only by greed at funzio that will quickly destroy the user base of this game.

I really sympathize with those that aren't either constantly checking the forums or constantly checking cc, because the longer they go without checking once the event starts, the more their odds drastically decrease. That happened to me on the last event. I usually use CCHD (where no event was ongoing) and had checked the forums the night before the event started. I didn't check the forums again for another day and a half and then realized how big of a disadvantage I was at.

Maybe we can suggest to Funzio some kind of announcement at least a day or two in advance. Here's an idea. Announce start of event 5 days or a week in advance (even in game) and follow that by the usual 20% gold sale that ends the day before the event starts. Since all recent and past changes seem to be $ motivated, it's a win-win situation. You guys get paid and we get a heads up so we're ready when it's time for the event to start.

Same here. I realized pretty quickly what was going on so I stopped at 7. I think you would have to drop a fair amount of gold to have a decent chance at 10 and I'm not really prepared to do that. I can understand why it's set up that way though. The temptation to buy for those last few definitely works in their favor and then once you spend a little you can spend a little more, and then a little more, etc. The event is designed pretty well, which is why we saw this one so soon after I imagine and we will likely see another one pretty soon.

I have attacked and robbed my way into pretty good statistics. 15 members 959 attack 896 defense with no real defense buildings 831 fights won 46 lost 2839 robberies won and 37 lost at level 46 and all of my inventory bought with respect. I have started investing in some energy lately to try to get some safe boxes and m4s. I get a box drop for every 250 energy I use in the very low levels of jobs. Canal street, water front ect. If you have a lot of energy just go there and do the jobs quickly and you should get a drop. This is just what my success has been.

Suspect it will become very frustrating towards the end. Had to use gold to get the sig but this was from tapjoy so not too unhappy with the result. Good luck everyone

I wouldn't use the free blowtorch if I was you because the chances of opening it is slim to nothing.

Can we have an "Official" explanatrion as to why there was a 50% increase in the cost of resetting timers and opening wall safes? or are we not allowed to discuss why you keep ripping us off?

A while back I asked for an "official" explanation about the defense building discrepancy, and I was told devs don't offer official explanations on the forums to those that request one, that this isn't the place to do so (although I was never told where to do so), and was also told not to direct any message on here towards a dev. I kept talking about the issue in a different thread a few days later, and was handed out a temp ban.

+1 everything except the "event is not fun" part. The events are quite engaging, I prefer to always be chasing a goal as it helps me get through the repetitiveness of the game. Other than that, great post!

Yeah, these events are pretty annoying and not much fun. I'm participating only because the option is available, but it is already obvious to me that even 5 emeralds is wishful thinking. Either there is a problem with my account or Funzio doesn't want me to have the end items. Oh well. At least I might get a lucky RP or cash drop. That's the only useful aspect of this event unless you have a horseshoe up your donkey.

I’m not sure if I envy or pity the people who are willing to spend $100 to get the 10 emerald item. I mean, can you imagine, free bank deposits. That is game changing. That being said, it’s just not worth the money. Especially since you could dump tons of gold into the event and still not end up with 10 emeralds. I have a feeling the tenth one is nearly impossible to get anyways. I bet the odds are so ridiculously low. At least that’s the way it seemed with diamonds. I probably opened upwards of 20 lock boxes when I had 9 diamonds and did not get the tenth. I assume that’s why Funzio never gives exact percentages. They simply stated that the odds never fall below zero or become a negative number. If they had quoted the actually odds of getting the tenth one people would realize that they have better odds of winning the 649.
I’m with you guys though. I’m going to continue to attempt to open wall safes with the medium chance option. I think I’ll be lucky to get 7 emeralds at the rate things are going. I would like to spend money to get the final item but I have decide that as a result of Funzio’s poor decisions that I refuse to support them with real life money. I’m never spending money on this game again unless they reintroduce the M4A1 back into the game and have it remaining easily obtainable in large quantities. Even if I wasn’t upset with Funzio, I still wouldn’t be dumping gold into this event.

Interesting about the hang up on the 7th. I experienced the same in MW - took 2 days to go from 6 to 7. (not setting timers like CC tho) It has been 24hrs plus since 6 for me, and 22 attempts. Of course it could all be the same and I just got lucky last event. Took me 30 attempts from 7 to 8 in lockbox, but only 5 att. from 6 to 7.

Anyone else have 7 or higher no gold?

I've been checking out the threads for the last couple of days and I just thought I'd let you know that I got my Green Piece this morning in under 50 Wall Safes ;-). I used the Blow torch for about 70% of them and Cash for the rest so it is possible. I missed out on the last special event weapon by 1 Diamond was so gutted at the time. Im lvl 69 btw.

me too, already tired and satisfied with 58 tries with cash only...I don't think there are a lot of people tried this many times by now. Sleep at 4:00am at wake up at 6:30 am

i was so surprised to have actually gotten to 10 this afternoon i actually signed up to post about it...! not surprisingly, mine were about half "dynamite" attempts and half were cash. a couple accidental screwdrivers too, d'oh.

all told, around 25 safes were opened to get to 10 emerald.

i hope the algorithms aren't purposely against people who are not using gold (that is, less likely to get an emerald without using gold) but that is perhaps naive / too much to ask :/ good luck all!

First, congratulations on getting your 10th emerald. You seem to have been very lucky. I want to confirm that there is NOT a better chance of getting an emerald if you use gold. I got up to six emeralds in the first day and a half with only the cash option. Then i kept trying cash and couldn't get the seventh emerald so i switched to using gold and I have opened up 16 straight wall safes with gold and have still not gotten the 7th emerald yet. I think you just have to get lucky.

+1 to that. I think something is off too. If crazy ideas to be thrown around I would guess there is a possibility that algorithm is preset who is going to get it. No matter gold or not. Randomness not working this way. By now there is probably 90% in math chance You would get one in random. Something is off.

It seems that you can never obtain the 10th emerald unless you spend RM. Only 8 -> 10 takes 5 days assuming you open every hour continuously! I will not spend any RM unless they do something about m4a1s so I'm satisfied with what I have -- 7 emeralds. From now on I'll just open for respect points or weapons.

Stand in their boots, guys! Why do they bring up such an event? To give you non-gold buyers an opportunity to make a fortune? No! They wish to persuade more people into buying gold so as to increase their income. That's the main reason of the event. If someone can obtain the 10th emerald without buying gold or going extremes (like clicking every hour from the starting day or being extremely fortunate), the designer will have his ass kicked! Plus, I think it makes sense to decrease odds with more emeralds. I would do that if I'm the designer. Just imagine a desperate gambler.

THAT WOULD BE CONSIDERED A SEVERE IMBALANCE TO THE GAME! GIVING GOOD STUFF TO PLAYERS WHO DON'T SPEND RM IS NOT FAIR TO PLAYERS WHO DO SPEND RM. OBVIOUSLY THIS CANNOT BE IMPLEMENTED AS IT IS A HUGE ADVANTAGE TO NON GOLD PLAYERS!

Had to use gold to get the 7th and 8 , then used cash to get 9th , and then was fed up cause spending gold didn't make a difference , so then big quantity of gold . More frustration and anger then happiness when I got my emerald burner , I will call mine the gold burner .

Infact I think I will skip the next event , no matter if it is explosive not being consumed , get 1 gold bar every 1000 respect conversion . Or whatever else overpowered.
This event left me a more bitter taste then the M4A1 nerf.
Defense Attack skill nerf , Defense building nerf , Multiclick nerf ....so if a event comes ahead of all other frustration .
I don't think it was very successfull, hope this post will have them alter the algoritme , and allow more people to get it cheaper then me .

I have used gold and I am still stuck on 7. Most ads I have only had 4 hours sleep a day. I guess I won't get the 10 . I can't spend all day opening boxes seen as it is mothers day and then tomorrow I have a hair appointment. Plus I need to see the doctor tomorrow if I can.

finally got the emerald burner. Im not trying to brag but, just want to share some info so you know what you are up against if you haven't gotten it yet. I have no idea how many safes it took. But somewhere over 100, probably over 150. But to give some idea my inventory now has a bunch more useless weapons:

15 rasta fatigues
27 room sweepers
18 widowmakers
15 fire trucks

I used cash at first, but the rate of opening safes was too low. It took a little over 2 vaults of gold. I feel like it was way too dam hard to get. I wont be spending gold on the next event unless they decrease the odds

I used around 1000 gold bars so far and ive used them to get the 100% chance to open it. Since I've been stuck at 8 for days now and my gold bars were running out I bought another 650. My strategy right now is to keep on just using gold to open them and when it's few hours left of the event I'll reset the time counter aswell.

Side note; funzio you really did a great work messing with peoples heads during this event, I never thought I would spend that much on a game and it's really killing me! If I'm not able to get the 10th when the time is over, I plan on leaving this game behind me, it feels like when you spend that much money you should be granted success (ofcourse I know it's a matter of luck and everyone shouldn't win) but it will kill me because I've been sleeping less than normally during this event and destroyed my monthly economy.. jesus christ I'm too weak!

Finally got that 10th little bastard. Feel more relieved than happy though. Would probably not have done this event if I knew how much gold it was gonna cost me (like 2000). I know some others (that got the gun) spent even more. But hey it's a gamble, and I knew what I was getting myself into :). The thing is once you start using gold during these events, you don't stop until you have it cause otherwise all the gold used would be useless.
I'll have to agree with the others who got the gun, it was far too hard to get. On the other hand, if it was easy to get, it wouldn't really be a bonus (cause everyone would have the same).

What i did:
Used cash at first, then gold.
Because it was much harder to get safes this time, the last day i opened safes as soon as i got more than 1 in my inventory. I.e. went for a hunt, got 4 safes, used dynamite, then reset for 3 of them. I always made sure to have at least 1 to be ready in my inventory when the timer was finished.

If I'm funzio, I'm not making the next event any easier based on the amount of gold being spent from a few of the previous posters. Those that are dropping some real cash on this event are doing exactly what funzio intended this event to be for.

If a subset of players are pissed off and quit, but another subset pay extra cash to funzio, they are just going to sit back, high-five each other, and try to think up what other ludicrous things they could invent to get people to pay them real money,

Nothing will change unless a larger portion of players quit and they see less revenue, which I can almost guarantee from this thread alone is not the case. Funzio is making cash hand-over-fist with these events........so if you're upset, prepare for more of the same.

So this event did taught me a lesson that the ods will be harder and harder next event .
Cause need to make more money , so for the next event will just go do something else .

Cause the hours invested and money invested doesn't validate the return investment .
Am not angry for spending that much money , cause like everything else in life .

Just to speak for myself, I didn't expect anything from this event. It is noticeable harder to get the 10th emerald from this event compared to the previous. I got away with only like 200 gold spent the last event (and got the sig), and there's only a handful of players who's got this gun compared to the sig (when it was one day left). It's a gamle. Funzio doesn't promise anything. You can spend thousands of gold and still don't get the gun (although it's unlikely, but still). It's really important to know this when you start to participate in an event like this. With that said, it's still okay to be really pissed and frustrated.

Where this is going, I highly doubt I will spend gold on future events though. Not worth it for me.

I'm on 7 which is my target when the event started. So I'm happy. Diamond event I spent 270 gold to get the SIG. No big regrets as I wanted the R boost which fits my playing style. As others have stated, the drop rate on the last few emeralds is extremely poor so I do not plan to spend any gold on this event unless I find myself with 9 emeralds. Still feeling a little down over all the changes/nerfings/shananigans by the CC gods.

Been stuck at 6...no emeralds in the last three day using cash option & 75+ attempts. I spent 260 gold to get the sig, and I'd drop 3x that in this event if I thought it'd matter. However, I'm not going to spend RM when people are dropping $100s, some w/ no luck. I'm happy for those that got their 10th, but like most, this is yet another experience that has made the game less fun. I hope Funzio fixes this next time, especially for a broader spectrum of gold players.

whoaaa, agree that it seems like the event was maybe slightly too easy last time funzio, but i think it was adjusted a bit too far the other way this time. The attempts people are making this time are significantly higher than those who went all out last time even.

Ya I noticed it last event as well. Once you have the 10th, your open rate with cash option is vvvveeery low. I remember going like 2/35 at one point.
