RULES? FORMULA? OR COMPLETELY RANDOM?

Is there any kind of rules or formulas of attack/defense and raids that dictate the outcome? i understand occasionally losses happen due to a chance factor but it gets to be ridiculous when it happens frequently. very frustrating. if anyone could direct me to a "rules" page or could give any advice that helps would be good.

Rules...Well for starters I would say your attack has to be higher than your rivals defense, and vice versa if there attacking you. So it's not really a "chance" like you said. You don't just fight somebody and maybe win or maybe lose. You need to check their stats before fighting or raiding. Make sure they have enough money to be worth attacking, and make sure their scores are lower than yours.
