yes, if you are attacked you can lose them also if you have them for your attk score you can lose them
when you win or lose against rivals.

In my opinion, you will lose them if the person attacking you is either stronger than you if you didnt have the explosives, or if they are almost stronger than you. But then again who really understands the mechanics this is just how I always imagined it.

Are you notified on the fight results screen if you lost an explosive or maybe on your news feed or do you just have to check your inventory to see if you've lost any explosives? I never had any explosives before but just as an experiment I bought 500 of the +1 attack explosives and 500 of the +2 defense explosives. It was a measly 100K, which I coud easily afford. It was cool to see my attack/defense instantly go up by 500 and 1000 respectively.

I then won 4 fights and still had 500 of each so apparently I didn't lose any. When I do lose explosives will it tell me or do I just have to go into my inventory and check for myself?

It should be showing you in the fight result/newsfeed item.

The news feed was just recently changed to show the cumulative explosives lost so if you lose 10 fights in a row it shows how many you lost total from that attack/rob.
