The longer lasting explosives with enhanced pricing just showed up on my iPhone.

Yep... mine too.

I like the look of the hellfire missile. It looks like its a non consumable too! Bit expensive though I think.

How much longer will they last is what I'd like to know.

Joeycool

About 6 foot longer apparently! :)

Wouldn't that be meters for you Joey?

I dabbled in the metric system back in college. Though that was more along the lines of weights.

Are they any different in the inventory than the old ones? Are old priced explosives grandfathered in to the longer duration?

Anyone willing to try this out against someone whos stronger than youselves?

Second question, are the explosives already in peoples inventories upgraded as well?

No... we use feet and inches here for height.

We use metric more for distance... ie the 100 meters in mens sprinting.

We use metric for weight in most things... except body weight for which we use stone!

Why so many different units!!! ha ha!

It would be good if they are... I bought about 150 anthrax grenades this afternoon!

I would assume the ones already in inventory would have the"last longer" effect. But you know what they say about assuming, ESP. with this game. I would say whoever stocked before price hike is in good shape no matter what, they are considerably more expensive.

I think the old inventory would be upgraded. There isn't a way they could distinguish the old price explosives from the new priced ones right?

I want the old prices back. i don't care if the explosives don't last as long.

The game data hasn't changed. It's still 20120215_30(/b). So I believe all this changes is pricing, not use %. Otherwise, you'd have 2 sets of explosives, and would see them separately in the fight screen.

Will be interesting to see if some of my "ATMs" stock up to try and retaliate.

I have 290 Anthrax Grenades and 290 Stun Grenades. I don't think i can afford to stock up like that again. Im glad I bought all those before the price change.

I wish I would have stocked up on Napalm at $20,000... Now $64,0000!

How fast were explosives depleting at the previous rate for folks? Walkover fights/competitivitve/overmatched? And what about robberies?

Caleb

I bought some explosives after the initial talk about new prices, but they've gradually been getting used up. Was thinking just this week that I ought to restock a bit. Oh well....

There is no change in the pricing on the HD version (at least not yet). Was there an update?

I just happened to load up on explosives this morning at the low prices. Haven't lost any after the price hike, I sure hope they don't consume as easily at these higher costs.

Just a thought - check the explosives prices on the fight results screen to see if they are the same as the store.

EDIT: Nevermind. Same prices

so buying any at the new prices would be bad until theres a change in game data then?

I had the new prices for a long time on my old phone, and yesterday on the new one too, guess they merged the sample groups (involuntary beta test). Molotov Cocktails are half the price, but it looks like the next update, Hand Grenade, is far more expensive, bought some before for the 21k attack goal.

I just got the new ones too. Good ting I have quite a lot stocked up. The new prices will really benefit the players who'd focused on their economy. Explosives were an easy and cheap way to increase the stats, but now they're going to work more like weapons (considering the new prices and sustainability). Don't know if the change is good or bad, guess time will tell.

After reading this I bought 500 stun grenades. I really don't see that they last any longer. You lose them when you lose and you lose them when you WIN still. I had one person get 25 from me overnight.

Im with Amber on thinking this is a slight bonus to the forum community that is hitting their economies hard over the heavy, but not the few mega gold users of course. Also might point out a slight flaw in the bunker hoods. hehe.

Luckily I had quite a few before the price hike. I think their consumption has slowed way down. Before I would lose 10 - 14 at a time. Now I only lose 1 - 3 at a time.

Yeah I noticed the same thing. Haven't lost more than three in an attack, whereas before it could be up to fifteen.

I did have an idea about this whole explosives thing before. It may be way off and I'm not going by any tried and proven mathematical formulas or actual data collected. Essentially, it's the mental equivalent of scribbling down something on the back of a coaster. Anyway, the gist of it is, since they now cost more to buy, yet are purported to "last longer," is it possible that the change in the rate of expendability is directly linked to the change in price? If a Frag Grenade now costs six times more, could it be six times less likely to be consumed?
I suppose that in hindsight, the Explosives category was overpowered in comparison to the others, even with the drawback of being consumable. Personally, I found I could generally overrun most non-explosives users at the same level with ease, given that I had a 500 weapon advantage. Plus, they made the attack and defense goals much easier to achieve as long as your economy was half decent. So while I hadn't been expecting it, it came as no shock when the changes were made. I would have to say that as frustrating as it is for anyone who did not stock up on explosives before the increase, this would seem to be one of the most well thought out and best executed changes made to fix an issue with overpowered weapons. None of the A/D stats were changed, so players do not feel that they aren't getting what they paid for, and the price increase appears to be offset (in part or perhaps even in full) by a change to the rate of consumption.

If I'm right (and I may be wrong- it has happened once before) the net change to ones expenditure would be zero in the long term. However, the fact that Molitovs now cost half what they had previously casts some doubt over the relationship proposed above.

Anyway, maybe that's how it works now. Or some other way. Who knows?
