Missions out of order?

I was curious, I skipped ahead to a mission that showed up when I leveled but that I had not worked up to in my pending missions - I was able to kill a target that said it gave a unit for loot - but after hitting a few targets - I didnt once get a loot.

So - is it a true conclusion that you can only earn the Loot Unit on a mission target once you have been officially assigned that mission by the General and get the green arrows above the target the 1st time?

No, it is probably just a low drop rate on the loot item. I've gotten loot from 6 maps beyond where my goals are at. I don't know if the drop rate increases if you complete a map, but I haven't seen that in experience yet myself.

Loot drop rates arent always 100%. 👍
