I had 3 diamonds to go and just unloaded 750 gold and got 2 diamonds.

The way I see it, I bought 1500 gold during the last sale and used it to buy the buildings my level would allow me to have. I had about 900 left yesterday. I figured I might as well go ahead and blow it now because it's going to take me quite a while to get to the point where I can buy Rock Cafes, Pirate Taverns and Gentleman Clubs. If I'm actually still playing this game by the time I get to that point, I would be ok spending another $80 on gold.

So, in the last day and a half I spent over 900 gold opening boxes and got 2 diamonds for my trouble. At least if I end up quitting I wouldn't have completely wasted the money I spent on gold because at least I used it. With the numerous $25,000 and $125,000 rewards I got I'm currently upgrading my loft. Oh and I'm pissing on the dozen punker jackets I received.

i just received my 9 diamond this morning, that leaves me a little under 12 hours to get one more diamond... i have 132 gold and plan on spending it... Who thinks I can make it?

Yeah, not a lot though, maybe 200. Went on a little race just now where I opened/reset until I got my last diamond (only did it like 5 times). Figured that it might be harder to get one later, cause everyone is going to hunt like crazy and max out gold. From what I've heard from some players, it's much easier to get diamonds when it's less activity.

I reset the timer each time, so I guess I only opened 37 boxes. There's only what...12 hours left and I knew I wouldn't have time the rest of the day to even be able to open 1 an hour for the next 12 hours, so I wanted to mazimize my chances. But yeah, I opened up 35 in a row and got 2 diamonds. So, that was 1 out of 17 and 100% of them were successful opens.

I would DEFINITELY recommend to NOT spend gold on this thing. If you were lucky enough to get 10 diamonds just thank your lucky stars and if you didn't get 10 diamonds just move on. Don't waste gold under any circumstances.

Hi guy race went silly, press 10 gold option, did a free lock pick. no gold used, second hour 10 gold used, a hammer.
exactly 11 hours to go if I get 9 before 2 hours to go then I'm going to reset the timer.


Would that not imply that loot drop is also affected by traffic? This would lend some credibility to the argument that time of day makes a difference, no?

I personally think that there is a daily set number of diamonds that can be opened from lock boxes.
Therefore it be correct to say that each lockbox you own is empty and when and if you open it, a loot is generated.
If that wasn't the case then after getting 10 diamonds people would still be opening boxes containing diamonds.

I got my 9th before dinner last nite. My longest drought was between 6 and 7. My 8th and 9th came almost back to back, within a few boxes from each other. This is just to show how random this is, and all theories fly out the window. Using only expert kit, no gold as of yet.

I cant believe that people are spending that much gold on this just to get diamonds. Have you nothing better to do with your hard earned money. I could see maybe 100 bars for the 8 buck deal, but after that I am out. I would rather buy something I can have in my hands. for 400 gold, you could go and buy a ps3 game or xbox game new. But to each their own.
I have 9 diamonds as well. But I refuse to buy and spend gold on this. Maybe if they had a sale i might consider it but it would only be a minimal cost. They should fix the notifications in my opinion.

If you started using that 750 gold from day 1, didn't use it to reset & every third box you kept on attempting to open using the expert kit until it opened then you would've had all 10 by now. Funzio are relying on players to panic near the end & reset like crazy which will burn your gold faster than anything, with not much to show as that extra gold could've been spent to get twice as many diamonds from a 100% successful opens ...

Took me 110 gold to suss out why I will never get the 3 diamonds needed regardless, I was to buy & use 1000 gold in the last 3 hours on lockbox to get the sig, so spending the gold was not in vain.

3 hours left I'm off to sleep hope I have a dudeman wake up with the sig, but I can guarantee that won't be the case.
Also I managed to get 10 ARX160 & 10 Stone hammers (not as good as getting 10 diamonds but I did get 10 of something :D)
