Losing loot farmed soldiers/units

Has anyone else been losing mainly loot farmed soldiers/units when doing PVP?
I seem to be mainly losing 'amphibious soldier' in nearly all my fights. I'd rather lose a loot farmed item than a warthog anyday of course but just wondered why and if there is a correlation.
Happen to anyone else?

Yes, they are my main 'meatshields' since they are all my weakest units. Also seems as if they are taken into battle no matter what, even if you were to have 2000 gold units, i assume you would still be able to lose PvP loot units.

I've lost over 150 Desert Leaders in two weeks. I have attacked only 5 times PvP in those two weeks and have been attacked about two dozen times.
