How does that saying go? One in the air is better than two in the bush? One advantage looting it from there has is the job payout is pretty high, but that's an insane amount of energy for a low chance at getting it. I'll give it a shot in a few hours when my energy refills. Somehow, I don't think it'll work though.

I am going to give it at least 5 times total before making any conclusion, right now I am 3/6 on my 3rd attempt and should be able to finish by 3-4 pm. That will also give me enuff xp to lvl up and I can complete him again right away.

On a side note my 1st attempt gave me 45,000$ and my 2nd gave me 50,000$. Not a total waste.

the drop rate is 0.3, you will need at least 3-4 times to be sure. You don't need to rush, we still have plenty of time ahead.

Actually, the drop rate is .49 (almost 50%). The 0.3 value is the expected number of items per 1000 energy spent, which is less than the drop rate in this case because it costs more than 1000 energy for one shot at the loot.

edit: Based on probability of 'flipping a coin' though, I agree on at least 3-4 attempts before we all get discouraged. I've got my fingers crossed for a positive indication before you hit 3 or 4 though, sez. Thank you for blazing the trail!!

Oh yah, and about the Trick Razor mentioned in the initial post. That one's not too interesting to me, but the S&M Choker would be. If this does exist and the drop rates are correct each one on average should cost (276*6) / 0.49 = 3379 energy
Compared to the MA41 which cost 135*7= 945 energy
So each Mossberg effectively costs 3.57 MA41’s

So for 3379 energy you would average 50 attack 50 defence with the Mossberg or 71.4 attack and 78.5 defence if your last mafia member had no gun.

However assuming your worst gun is at least 10 attack 6 defence this changes to 40 attack 44 defence for the Mossberg and 41.4 attack and 60.8 defence MA41

So after looking at the figures if all is correct I will go 400 MA41’s then try for 100 Mossberg’s since there are a lot of guns around the 15 attack mark the gain for the MA41 in the last 100 is less worthwhile. Would be great to go for 500 Mossberg’s but that would take 391 days if you never waste a single energy.

Its 320 x 7 energy, can't do it in one shot with only 1230 energy. = 2240 total energy. Still waiting for it to refill.

Perhaps this particular point could be cleared up after communication with the player who has those 3 Mossberg's.

What I'm wondering though, is if that particular player is using the iPad HD version of CC, which was updated on Jan 10 and includes 'bug fixes'. My theory/assertion is that only players using that version of the game, which includes an updated 'data file' that was referenced in this or some other recent thread, might actually have the Mossberg (and other previously 'locked' PVE loot items such as that Trick Razor, perhaps) dropping since the 10th. Players using the Universal Binary version of CC (on iPhone or iPad) are almost certainly using the data file from Dec 14 (last update), which includes the new buildings released on that day, but no change to the Mossberg and several other PVE loot items.

I suggest folks update Tramp's accounting list with information about attempts using the HD version (and thus the 01/10/2012 data file). I suspect that folks using the Universal version still have an effective drop rate of zero for the Mossberg, and... well... As much as I deeply appreciate the efforts i see in this thread (totally awesome! sez, cooz, anubis, you rawk!), it's with mixed emotion that I recommend to anyone who may be overextending their in-game resources or unduly impacting their real-life time by pursuing this endeavor, but is using the Universal version to do it... you probably should hold off any over-extending until the next iTunes update. Or switch to the HD version (iPad only) if you can.

I just think there must not be that many location for them and this guy know where it is because 14 days ago till time of post he has lvl up 9 lvl's but in 24 hour he has had the same amount of mossberg's 3 that may indicate the quest on the map must take alot of energy for the return on a mossberg but the strange thing is he know and we don't even if it was an ipad thing some ipad user would have mentioned it by now so the fun part be seeing if he's going to let the cat out the bag and share the location all I can say I'll try and share the info as I don't see the reason to keep it a secret on the forum

My game (iPhone 4, not HD) has the 01/10/2012 data file....

Ok, i didn't realize that was updated on the fly.

It's still possible that the Dec 14 client interprets the 01/10/2012 data file incorrectly, and that the Jan 10 client (HD) bug fixes resolve that, but it's all guesswork really. I guess folks, feel free to totally discount my post about the client versions.

I'm still cautiously thinking there's something to it, as I recall allhaildiscordia posting that there was seemingly no good reason for why some of the items on his spreadsheet (based on the data file) were not dropping as the data in the file would suggest. Seems plausible anyway that the client version evaluation of that data file could have been buggy/broken, and that the Jan 10 HD 'bug fix' update resolved it, where the universal version update hasn't been pushed through iTunes quite yet. I'm just guessing though, so everyone do as you will. And thanks again to those who are trying!

The $ payouts have changed some. No change in loot, including the fact that non-bosses in the last 3 area are marked as dropping loot, but don't define what that loot is, like Carmen in the first area.

Goal completion rewards are considered "loot" as well, even if those items aren't dropped by any map location/NPC.

You know, you shouldn't be complaining since the way you guys acquired the knowledge of where these rare items are and their suppose drop rates puts you guys in huge advantage compare to regular CC players who does not know how to look at the game data files.

The act of looking at game binary and data files are not intended by Funzio and could be considered borderline cheating.

If you get your wall spammed, you could always email crime city support and they would be able to help you. Complaining about it here won't get you anywhere.

While there is some validity to this, reality is that this kind of information would be discovered by players over time, and shared in forums like this eventually - even the approximate drop rates as recorded by player experience. Access to this plaintext information saves us some uncertainty and brute force grunt work (but as we see clear evidence of in this thread, it also spins us into pursuing potentially fruitless paths too -- it's not all roses and sunshine).

Given FUNZIO's policies that seem to prevent disclosure of major parts of the fight mechanics, rivals list population methods, and generally any two way communication -- which seems to be less information transparency than is common with other games/developers -- looking at these files brings the level of information available to interested players who seek it, back into a bit of balance in my opinion.

I certainly don't like the implication of 'cheating' mixed in there. But I do understand your position, and I suppose I'm showing my own bias, as I like knowing what I'm doing rather than playing a game nearly blind, and that information helps.


edit: The vast majority who choose not to do a simple Google search, or even check out the developer's own website/forum regarding a game they invest weeks and months in, should not be considered disadvantaged vs players who do seek out publicly posted information. They are having fun with the game in their own way, apparently. I (we?) enjoy it differently. The players like us who do participate in the exchange of that information, however acquired, do get an advantage vs those who don't, but that's a bit of a stretch to label it cheating.


edit2: I think FUNZIO is probably satisfied with the current situation. You can't argue with success, and sometimes that depends on players of varying degrees of interest and with various different motivations. They could change their policies at any time, and they could hide or obfuscate this information with some additional development effort. Heck, maybe that's what they've done, and we'll only realize it later. I don't think so though. This works for them, and they have a stated zero tolerance policy regarding cheaters. M4 A1 drop rates could've been modified hours, days, or weeks after various postings here, and were not. That's pretty telling.

Agreed all people should stop trying to get them at the certain locations that have been mentioned as it just cods wollop at the moment but the guy who want the million ingame cash has an iphone so there conflicting view regarding it only a HD thing. There are lots of active players currently discussing this topic. We have empirical evidence that points to the locations of these items. Only one of us has any of them.

So now we've got precedent existing for only certain people getting access, the motive could be a test run on a full incorporation of this into the game.

always keep everything updated but the silly thing funzio are doing is not employing tester to check for bugs as they sell more then enough sales of gold to use financial constraint as an excuse plus they never update the site to tell us of any progress in the news / announcement section so why have the forum simple to read our post and laugh at us for searching and buying gold for pursuits that are fruitless without having the common courtesy to help people like sez and anubis who specifically brought gold to complete without making any comment of that it avalible for only certain people (EVIL)

1 thing surprise me is it seems the Mossberg drop rate is pretty high to dudeman, he got 2 in less than a day.

No, it's not TestFlight, lots of players are part of the beta testing.

Since the drop information is the same for everyone, and the client application is the one to execute that drop information (when your client goes to a new area, all the area's information is brought down to the client, each time). The only difference would be all the different client versions that are available to the iOS platform. So it's either a small rollout to a certain number of players (like the exp prices and free gold), or it is down to a specific client version only able to execute the proper drop (or both).

I'm sure we will find out soon enough what it is as more players start to get the gun.

Seems like it's the other way around. Either way, it's obvious these are just test programs, and you're one of the people chosen for it. I'm sure you can contact the developer to opt out of it.

1- Do every job in Circuit Street, Hitman, Machine Gun Malfunction, Heavy Thunder, More Traffic Safety, Defend your turf.
2- RL$: 0. Gold bars: 18 (The initial 10, and I got 10 comp'd for what I can only describe as technical difficulties on the Funzio end. I spent 8 of that on a second Ice Cream Shop.)
3- Old explosive prices/no update. Yes I can earn free gold, I have earned 11 bars so far. Accumulating a decent amount of gold this way will take a long time as the offers are not updated daily as I expected them to be. Oh well.
4- The first 11 maps.
5- I have completed at least level one on 19 maps, including the 11 from Q4, up to Circuit Street.

8- I have about 49:30 remaining on the $750k expansion. I haven't been tallying the expansions as I progress so I can't give you a precise number as to exactly how many expansions that is.

Yet again, CCMark and any other admins have some explaining to do, if dudeman received these 3 guns - why havn't the rest of us who are a higher level and have completed more goals, more map misisons, more PVP and robberies, bought gold etc etc.

Itsobvious the gun isn't dropping from those locations. the two with near 50% drop rate have been tested out by a good few of us with the result being nothing.

Cooz - If dudeman is being truthful (and I believe he is) then the guy asking for 1M$ probably doesn't know where he got those guns from either. I really hate this kind of thing :mad:

1. Did the people who spent gold on energy not do so before I noticed the item in my inventory? I don't see how I could have done anything to prevent that.
2. Upon completion of the 8th hit to finish the job on Sal Massino, all I got was roughly $30k. No loot.
3. I find it strange how after finishing with that job I went right to bed, and apparently while I was sleeping I got more of these things before sez attacked me. (@sez, how many hits on a rival does it take to be able to see their inventory? :p)
4. I am now seeing other players with at least one M590 Shotgun too. I never saw anyone with one before yesterday, but now I hear about people with them, I have more than one, and I've seen it in a rival's inventory/fight screen. Whoever "JayMar" is, she has it and I don't know how she got it. I asked but have yet to receive a reply.

When you were talking in this thread about how Funzio has different drops / items for different people, here is an example...You know how a lot of higher level people who have 500+ mafia don't have the Giant yet? I am level 93 with 600 mafia and i never got a Giant. I e-mailed funzo about it and their reply was something along the lines of "its a reward for doing a goal called Mobster Army and the reason i don't have a Giant yet is because i did not complete the goal, or i didn't do enough goals to activate it and i should keep playing."

Yet CC Mark said a level 2 person can unlock the Giant and get the goal.... What gives with this?

It's not going to affect anything, but I messed up slightly on my Empire Central Station calculation. Apparently I set the standard to 99% probability there and went with 99.99% everywhere else. This is still well within statistical rigor, which generally targets 95% confidence, though those studies acquire far more samples than we are. The end result is that I need to change the number of trials from 8 to 14, but the odds of the Mossberg not dropping by now at this location are 1.579 in 1,000.

More importantly, I'm assuming the drop is available, period. Even if I assume the RNG is broken, there's nothing I can really do about it other than continue to track trial outcomes and suggest people attack the largest unknowns.

All the locations are multi-hit locations, and all the popular farming locations for M4 etc are single hit. So maybe the drop rates on multi-hit non-boss locations are broken.

I would actually like to know for myself whether this is true or not. Considering recent events, I can certainly understand why someone might think that, but afaik I am playing the same game as everyone else. I never explicitly agreed to partake in any testing.

I hope the anti-disclosure policy doesn't also mean not informing players if their account is being used to conduct experiments. If that's what is happening then maybe I am a tester without knowing? I don't know... And I think policy will probably stop me from finding out.

Best way to find out if dudeman has a clue on the location is to see if in the next 24-48 hour his mossberg in the inventory changes as they are 50/50 att/def they are to good to leave so we can determine that in 24 hour he can obtain 3 average of 1 every 8 hours therefore in 150 days potential of getting 450 mossy's I've been keeping an eye on eddy and he still on 3 but he done 10 mission and his m4's are the same too so this drip feeding of weapons by funzio needs to stop as you are giving users probable cause to stop spending cash or of worst still boycotting your product nice to see funzio showing it true colors (colours if your brit) so is it fair to call them CONzio

i've been following this thread peripherally. i must say the frenzy for finding the loot location and the secrecy surrounding the whole affair reminds me of a similar situation we had a few months ago, when only a handful knew the location of M4A1s. it took a couple of days, but the truth came out eventually. i applaud the collective efforts of tramp stamp and colleagues for the hard work you are doing!

Let's see now, so dudeman knows, isn't telling (no big issue), we know all the locations and we now know that the successful client is the latest version for the ipad.... so, all members who have the ipad HD version of the game (which is the latest version of all the iOS device client builds), now is your chance to step up and test out all the locations listed for the best area..

Once this is confirmed by other ipad HD owners, then we can start the Funzio harassment thread to fix the other client.:o

eddy the one who inventory started this tread has a iphone but the issue is how do I give him 1 million to me its less then 1 chaingun @$1.6million with 7/18 att/def and even if it false I can make the money back fast told him he can only rob $30k per hit x 10 making it $300k but he thinks I'm going to double cross him now I regret robbing the guy but he did start it first so now we really need another player other then eddy and dudeman to see what device he has once we get that info we can go to part 2
