Question: how can someone have an Alliance that is slightly over 600 members, and then have an Alliance Attack that is in excess of 3300, as well as an Alliance Defence over 3500?
Also, what does Alliance Attack and Alliance Defence signify, and what does it mean?

It took me a while to figure this out too. Basically, your allies let *you* bring more of *your* units into battle. It doesn't matter if you have 600 lvl-100 or lvl-1 allies.

= You can bring up to (5 X lvl) allies to battle.
= Each ally allows you to bring 4 of your units.

I'm lvl-38.
allies to battle = 5 x 38 = 190
// I have something like 260 allies total, but I max out at 190 who can "help" me //
units to battle = 4 x 190 = 760
// I can bring 760 units for either attack or defense. I have a total of 1032 units.//

I just attacked someone with the same lvl and # of allies as I have, but I brought 760 units to battle, but he only had 580 units -- but he *could* bring 760. Not having enough units, given his level and number of allies, puts him at a significant disadvantage when I attacked him.

Also, a unit will only come to battle if they can help. A medic (0/10) won't help when you attack. A scout (1/0) doesn't help if you are attacked by someone else.
