Proximity of defense buildings to money buildings

Is a money building better protected (less chance of being robbed) when there is a defense building near it? I prefer to cluster defense buildings for hood aesthetics, but wonder if I would get better protection from speeding it out. My experience indicates location does not matter, but I would like to know what others think. It would be cool if it actually did work that way because then you could protect a high payout money building like a loft or movie theatre with lots of machine gun turrets or other defense buildings.

I also play modern war, and in that game the defense buildings definitely have a range.

It's true for MW, but in CC the location for the defense buildings have no impact at all.
