Tax on buying gold?

Today there was a sale on gold so I decided to finally get some. Before I entered a $25 gift card in I had .80 I my account. So total was 25.80 then I bought gold for 15.99 now I have 8.42? Is there tax on ingame purchases because that seems like I just got robbed. Ja this happened to anybody else yet?
Or should I contact funzio about this?
