Place phone in hole (with Modern War open)
Cover hole with dirt.

Then,

Dig phone out
Make sure Modern War is still open
Put phone back in hole....

....recover.

Yes, send a ticket to the fine folks at Gree customer service.
They'll need in game name, ID, faction name and number, some proof of any past purchases, and they'll instruct you as to the rest.
Good luck, and they will ask you to be patient.
