Why is the defense I think I have not what others see?

If I look at my stats I see an attack of 26b and defense of 16b. When I attack someone my attack stays around 26b depending upon all the various boosts involved. But when someone attacks me, they consistently see that I have a defense of 9b. That is a massive drop. And it's not just me. What exactly is happening to our defensive stats? Anyone have a clue?

GREE sold boost buildings that don't work. It's a known issue...along with the other 101 out there.
