It looks like old LTB buildings cost a fortune to upgrade now. Regular building upgrade costs seem unchanged. Is this a glitch, or the way of the future?

Better buildings cost more. That's not just the way of the future, that's the way it's always worked.

This reply really makes your sig line seem questionable.

I haven't noticed any exponential change in building upgrade costs.

The upgrade cost is linear across all buildings. I don't know any that deviate from the below:
1 (cost to build)
1.67 x base cost = level 2 upgrade cost
2.79 x base cost = level 3 upgrade cost
4.66 etc....
7.78
12.99
21.69
36.23
60.50
101.03

It's exponential not linear but whatever.

1.67^(n-1) where n=level to which building will be upgraded

Sorry, what I meant is that it's a specific formula that applies to all buildings.

Thanks. I currently have two buildings upgrading, max for me. I'll check the calculations once one completes.

Each cycle I typically buy 2 of the LTBs. Upgrade 1 as far as possible within the time constraints, then upgrade the other later on as time and $ allow. In catching up some of the older buildings it looked like the upgrade cost was much higher than I'd paid to upgrade the first building.

Or maybe I should just stop skipping leg day.

There are different types of buildings and they use different formulas for upgrade costs

Where do you get the idea all buildings upgrade the same?

What building doesn't follow the multiples I posted? (or the actual formula that aarondavidsdad posted) I presume we're only talking about money building since defense buildings might as well not exist in the game.

Upgrading the tree lot from level 1 to level 2, for example, now costs over $1B. It was only a few million while the LTB event was active.

That is just completely wrong..

Unless my excel formula functions are wrong

Upgrading the tree lot from level 1 to level 2
level ----cost to upgrade
lvl 1---$65,000,000---to purchase
lvl 2---$108,550,000---to upgrade
lvl 3---$181,278,500--
lvl 4---$302,735,095--
lvl 5---$505,567,906<----to get here, your total would be $1,163,131,501
lvl 6---$844,297,906-----
lvl 7---$1,409,977,504-----
lvl 8---$2,354,662,431----
lvl 9---$3,932,286,260----
lvl 10---$6,566,918,055<-----To completely upgrade to here. your total would be $16,271,273,657

You have earned a +900% upgrade cost item.

Actually defense buildings follow same cost progression
