[Player Appreciation Month] Design An Epic Armor Voting!

Many thanks to all the new players joining us here on the Forums for the first time and to everyone who participated by submitting a design (or designs) to the Design an Epic Armor Contest (http://forums.gree.net/showthread.php?102017-Player-Appreciation-Month-Design-An-Epic-Armor-Contest). Once again we were absolutely blown away by the number of entries, and how amazing all of them were! The choice for the top ten was incredibly hard, so if you don't see your entry up here, please know that we still loved it!

Because we received so many great entries we, we will be sharing all the ORIGINAL artwork submitted for the contest in a separate thread during January.

Voting Rules:


Voting will be open until the 30th.
Please only vote once (do not create multiple accounts to vote).
The winner will be announced on the 31st!
Prizes will be distributed by January 9th.

Steampunk Ninja Battlesuit

Suggested Element:
Fire/Water

Description:
It is generally inspired by ninja suit infused with steampunk-technology. The color of the armor is basically dark red and blue with a hint of black and neon red and blue trim. A cloud of aura-like steam are injected out from the armor and surrounded it. On the shoulder pad are kanji-written letter, fire on the right while water on the left. The weapon is a dual-wielded katana, which represents a right handed fire katana; red and black colored with a neon red lining on it, a left handed water katana; blue and black colored with neon blue lining.

Description: A very durable crystal armor made of pure crystals infused with the elements of water and fire. Together, they create a beautiful spectrum of colors. The chestplate is made of ruby and it extends down to the legs as a mantle. The weapon is a crystal lance that can pierce through even steel. At the top of the mass of crystals, there is a sharp blade of ruby.

With a roaring torrent of flame and a raging spirit. The raging lion mail consumes the spirits of the weak and timid.

Shifter's Mantle

Elements: Wind + Spirit

Helmet: The helmet starts right below the nose and comes up into almost a owl shaped mask with purple feathers every so often an then comes up into a feathered crown. Gold scales and a pure white metal line the outside of the mask.

Torso: A white metal torso with white feathers with purple tips in a line down the torso. The shoulders have HUGE golden metal feathers going everywhere on them and then the rest of the arm is made of pure white metal with purple tipped feathers hanging down from them.

Sword: The sword begins at the base where it has a golden handle with a light purple gem on the bottom of it. The handle goes up into a circular beginning of it with another purple gem in it. Now it goes up to a white blade and at the very end of it it has two tongs.

Shield: ( I'll make this one quick) a circular shield lined with golden feathers. In the center a purple dome with magical essence pouring out of it and surrounding the shield.

Legs: Purple tips feathers make a kilt around the waist and only goes down on the left side to the knee. The rest of the legs look like regular white leg armor except for the knees which have three gold feather on them.

The Darkscale Battlegear

The Darkscale Battlegear is an ancient offensive-type Fire Spirit armor wore by the The Archangel of War itself. Those few angels who survived the last Great War of Light and Darkness on Dark King's Lands reported that the Archangel of War fell after a crucible fight against the Dark King and resurrected afterwards to be one of his most powerful commanders to lead his army. However, his armor has been affected by the resurrection process as it started to shape into a nightmarish-type armor, surrounded by the essence of the darkness. But the God's Light, the eternal Fire, has merged with the essence of Darkness, creating a hybrid-type of elements that allows the Host to control both of the destructive elements, each one with a mystical sword.



Auras for the Armor:


- For swords: This armor is a dual sword type so my idea was for the swords to have Fire and Spirit auras around the blade. (The left sword a fire type and the right one a spirit type)
- For the armor itself: In my opinion, I would like that the armor to be surrounded by a dark cloud-type aura, not that strong, but to be... noticed.

The Facebook post was just the notice of event and most were told to go to the forum to submit their ideas and not on Facebook. The contest guide/rules were all on the forum, as no one was told to use Facebook to submit.

Asguardian Wargear well it looks cute but it is really not realistic for knd armor style. The head is too big, the gear is huge which will cover up the whole screen and the other knights.

I like yours a lot especially the helmet. The eye opening is actually the mouth of the dragon. That looks really cool. And the armor style did really close to the knd style.

If your armor in the tip 10. I definitely will put my vote on yours. All other selected contestant, they do look good but concept wise. I think you have the best idea and the most important thing I can see that you really love knd and the drawing is really applicable instead of just putting up nice drawing and looks cool.

Um no this was nothing like a charizard. I drew this entire thing never once looked like a charizard. I was drawing a dragon and this is the way I pictured it.

omg Dob-King, you should really switch your medication.

Granted, your design looks by far better than the one currently leading (hard to even recognize what it is), but it was clear from the beginning that 'alliances' will vote for their buddies. And I agree with Clementine, with so many submissions it was clear that at least 30 must be good enough to compete for the top, and that many will end up disappointed.

I guess I can see some similarities like the lance/staff + shield (though most armors are weapon + shield and I wouldn't say that lance = staff), earpiece (Though I happen to like ear decorations on armors. See my angel armor entry? Had a similar earpiece too. Nothing strange about that), and perhaps that no eyes are present. (That's really far-fetched though) Honestly, you are stretching it - it's like saying that the Asgardian Wargear is identical to Cryptid Wargear.

This has my vote by far! Even though my Mantle Of The Vengeful didn't make it, I have to vote for this one. Steampunk + ninja are my two of my favourite things and I would love to see them mixed into another (in this case KnD). :cool:

Yeah, thank you for being polite about it. I guess I shouldn't rant about it, but it kind of feels like a personal insult if you work on an armor several hours and people claim it is a carbon copy of another armor. ^^

I guess it's a matter of practicing. (Yeah, everyone says that) I look up tutorials when I want to learn specific things. Let's say that I want to draw a crystal. I look up both real-life pictures and drawn images of crystals from a lot of sources. Deviantart has a lot of nice tutorials that I follow too. For my Luminous Vanguard entry, I followed this tutorial (I read it about a year ago, so I didn't follow it as strictly as the first time I used it. Granted, your design looks by far better than the one currently leading (hard to even recognize what it is), but it was clear from the beginning that 'alliances' will vote for their buddies. And I agree with Clementine, with so many submissions it was clear that at least 30 must be good enough to compete for the top, and that many will end up disappointed.

Asguardian Wargear well it looks cute but it is really not realistic for knd armor style. The head is too big, the gear is huge which will cover up the whole screen and the other knights.

I like yours a lot especially the helmet. The eye opening is actually the mouth of the dragon. That looks really cool. And the armor style did really close to the knd style.

If your armor in the tip 10. I definitely will put my vote on yours. All other selected contestant, they do look good but concept wise. I think you have the best idea and the most important thing I can see that you really love knd and the drawing is really applicable instead of just putting up nice drawing and looks cool.

No, obviously it's unfair for those who wish to compete in a fair competition. But there's nothing you can do to hinder mass-voting from friends and guilds. And technically speaking, they are part of the community and the goal of the contest is to choose the community favorite. Still agree that the voting feels so controlled by things like alliances that it doesn't feel right.

Oh and DoB, please cool down. Yes, in my opinion your armor looked pretty cool. (But then again, everyone have different tastes and you have to respect that) I liked the dragon concept and the sword design. I guess the only con it had was that I prefer massive amounts of details. And it's just a personal preference. I like when the image is filled with stuff, haha. ^^ But really, stop being so aggressive and negative. It just makes you look like a child.

Yea.... the problem is that I didn't had time to color it because of family stuff, but I can assure you that the dominating color of it is dark-type with some fire-type as well.

Sure, let's stop this discussion. It's pretty pointless to argue about something small, since everyone have different opinions. I dislike to not reply though (I guess it's a habit), so I'll have the last words. :p First of all, you're not understanding that I'm not upset. I'm not upset because I happen to lack smileys in my post, right? i guess this is the downside with online posts - if I post a wall of text, people assume that I am upset. So to answer your question: You don't understand why I'm upset simply because I'm not upset. ;)

Anyways, I don't see the relevance to compare a parent telling a child to stop doing a or else they won't get to watch their favorite cartoon with legal actions. I guess our definitions are different but let me explain what I mean: Do you see the difference of the following two statements? We assume that x is the same thing in both cases.
a) Stop doing x, or else you won't get your favorite ice cream after dinner.
b) Stop doing x, or else I'll report you to the police.

And you're right - an insult can be pretty subjective too. But you can't say that I'm insulting him for insulting me. I'd rather say that I'm accusing him. Not that it sounds better, haha. xD But do you get my point? We can all have different opinions on what is classified as an insult, and therefore freedom of speech is a responsibilty since we should communicate in a way that won't insult other people.

Thank you for your opinion Alexis :D Everyone likes the pretty colors, I do like them, but I enjoy more the detailed ones, it gives more impressive looking ;) But hey, that's my opinion. Either way, both mine and his are great, different styles with great impression.

To be honest, I didn't even use that armor as my inspiration. Call me ignorant, but I didn't even know that the armor existed. When going for the KnD-style, I just used the pose as a base. If people really are so curious about what my inspiration actually was, I can post a pretty detailed explanation of my process when creatin the armor. ^^

As for the actual armor, the chestplate should be pretty self-explanatory. It's just an ordinary plate colored in red. Instead of the usual plates covering the waist, I drew crystals. The lance was supposed to be a normal, long lance, but I ended up making it into a trident-lance-fusion because it looked cooler. For the crystals, again it's the crystal tutorial I linked to earlier. I also drew inspiration from the crystal fragments from Heroic Mode, forming large crystals made of smaller crystal shards that are combined. The choice for an earpiece is simply a personal preference and the "black eyes"-line was to, in my opinion, make it cool and I was too lazy to draw eyes. So I just proceeded to throw crystals everywhere on the armor.

Can the next person who claims that I'm copying an armor base his/her statement on something? I just participated for fun. Just remove my entry if it is going to cause so much unecessary negativity? It's christmas! Let's be happy instead! :D

Description:
It is generally inspired by ninja suit infused with steampunk-technology. The color of the armor is basically dark red and blue with a hint of black and neon red and blue trim. A cloud of aura-like steam are injected out from the armor and surrounded it. On the shoulder pad are kanji-written letter, fire on the right while water on the left. The weapon is a dual-wielded katana, which represents a right handed fire katana; red and black colored with a neon red lining on it, a left handed water katana; blue and black colored with neon blue lining.

The Darkscale Battlegear is an ancient offensive-type Fire Spirit armor wore by the The Archangel of War itself. Those few angels who survived the last Great War of Light and Darkness on Dark King's Lands reported that the Archangel of War fell after a crucible fight against the Dark King and resurrected afterwards to be one of his most powerful commanders to lead his army. However, his armor has been affected by the resurrection process as it started to shape into a nightmarish-type armor, surrounded by the essence of the darkness. But the God's Light, the eternal Fire, has merged with the essence of Darkness, creating a hybrid-type of elements that allows the Host to control both of the destructive elements, each one with a mystical sword.

- For swords: This armor is a dual sword type so my idea was for the swords to have Fire and Spirit auras around the blade. (The left sword a fire type and the right one a spirit type)
- For the armor itself: In my opinion, I would like that the armor to be surrounded by a dark cloud-type aura, not that strong, but to be... noticed.

Why the hell wasn't my design luminous aegis in the top 10 it's way better then some of the ones that are in!! Please reconsider your choice of leaving this armor out?

P.S it is so sad to see my design not in the top 10 when so much time and effort went to designing it the least you could do is include it in the top 10 or expand it to top 20 like you did with the epic boss contest, at least give the community a chance to vote for a great design and more great designs.

The way I think the contest should be run next time: everyone submits their design before a certain date, initial voting is before a certain date then top 10 or 20 voting after that. This is a much better system as it gives the community a chance to vote on all designs and since the armor will be released after GREE approves of it, it should matter what the community thinks first then GREE. Of course all fake entries need to be sifted OK then all legal entries can be voted on as per the process I noted earlier, this would protect against great designs like mine missing out on getting the opportunity to be voted upon, and if alliance members and guild members bias vote towards one particular armor, well that's just too bad because they are part of the community and deserve the right to vote whether they all vote for a particular one or not.

R.E: this is very true and unfair for many reasons. The gem buyers will jut get everyone to vote for an armor and the gem buyers get it. This is possibly the only opportunity for non gem/low gem buyers to get an new epic for once and then the gem buyers get in the way. I believe all the colleges and workers at GREE should all vote between themselves and decide the winning armor.

The Asgardian armor is really good indeed, but I prefer more the Darkscale rather than Asgardian. It's more like from Thor movies, but the Darkscale is more unique. I'm really astonished that the people are voting the Asgardian just because for its colorful aspect, but lacking in details, in the other hand the Darkscale lacks in color but rocks on details. It's easy to realize that the creator really put time in it and I really hope that he will win this.

Thank you all for those who voted for my Darkscale Battlegear, you are awesome guys :D The Asgardian is really a good rival against my Darkscale and both are awesome entries. But what is more important on a Epic Armor? The colors or the details of it? The Asgardian wins on color aspect with impressive types but on details it lacks, most of the armor. The Darkscale lacks in colors, thing that makes it in disadvantage, but in details I really dedicated a lot of time, in all of the evos and the basic form. The armor is inspired from the Heroes of Might and Magic series, not from the Warcraft like some of you said that its the Lich King's Armor. ( No, it's not, and yes I checked the armor and it's a little similar to the helmet). Other difference between Asgardian and Darkscale is the sexual aspect. The Asgardian is female type thing that makes the armor more seductive while the Darkscale is male type, thing that well...it's typical for this gen ;). The Asgardian is more of a light armor type and some of the parts of the body are exposed, in the other hand the Darkscale is a heavy-type armor, where there aren't any parts exposed. Another thing that I really thought was the elements of the armor. The elements are very important, because some combinations haven't appeared for some time, and Water, Air and Earth have appeared a lot of times in game. The Air/Fire and Fire/Spirit were very rare this time, and I selected Fire/Spirit for this one. The Earth Water is a very good combination, but with all of the Water and Earth types that have appeared, this one will lose a little on this aspect.

And it's quite hard to imagine how it would look like in the game, because of how it was drawn and the style of it, again. I think it would look kinda too stubby for the armour itself, but the colour would fit well. Though I voted for Steampunk Ninja (3rd place) I still think yours is very amazing indeed (along with a few other armours that I really liked)! :D And anyway, why is everyone voting for Asguardian? I know it's graphic-drawn and all cool and stylish, but the more interesting features and aspects it lacks...

I know :D The only armors that really fits well for game is the Steampunk, my Darkscale and few more. The Asgardian won more votes because it's female version :) hehehehe, that makes sense, and as well the support that it had or still have, but one thing is sure.... next time my entries will be made on Photoshop, rather and hand-made, because these guys like more the fancy colors than the details :/ And it's difficult and takes a lot of time to realize it.

Not Earth! And it lacks details. And let me remind you something, GREE is going to do the hard work on making the armor and load it into the game, not the creator. The creator only puts his sketch out here, and GREE is finishing it by removing or adding things and colors in the armor. Think twice before posting man, and of course, they aren't going to put a BLACK AND WHITE armor in the game :/

It's not about being jealous, it's about talking in art terms and yes sometimes I really pass the line with it and give it in anger. You can't compare a finished artwork with colors and etc with a sketch that hasn't been finished. Maybe I got lazy to add the colors, but dedicating a lot of time in a single artwork is really stressful. I dunno if you can understand it, but when a next contest will appear and you'll participate and get in top 10 you will understand... some sort of it :/ Anyway, one friend of mine was right about competitions, at the beginning it's all about fun, but when you're "fighting" with a good rival for the top 1 then the things changes... and he was right about it, I can't avoid it

Gree publicly stated that this contest is for all the KnD players who came up with any ideas with or without any artwork. that's why shifter's mantle is in top 10 eventhough it came without any artwork/sketches. the only reason it have lesser votes is it did'nt have any fancy drawings attached. i'm sure if the idea is materialize, it will look much better than most of the entries. if one single artist redraw and recreate every top 10 here and repost it for voting, will your votes is still the same? if Gree wants complete entries then they should open it only to established artist/designer then they can add a term that a fancy artwork is mandatory

It's not about being jealous, it's about talking in art terms and yes sometimes I really pass the line with it and give it in anger. You can't compare a finished artwork with colors and etc with a sketch that hasn't been finished. Maybe I got lazy to add the colors, but dedicating a lot of time in a single artwork is really stressful. I dunno if you can understand it, but when a next contest will appear and you'll participate and get in top 10 you will understand... some sort of it :/ Anyway, one friend of mine was right about competitions, at the beginning it's all about fun, but when you're "fighting" with a good rival for the top 1 then the things changes... and he was right about it, I can't avoid it

1) this contest should be held more often; like every month or every couple of months
2) Gree have all the rights to choose top 10 and they should redraw all the top 10's before post it for votings so that all the quality of artwork is equal and fellow forumers can vote justly
3) how about giving a normal version of the winning armor as prize for the top 10 and a + version of it to the winner instead only 65 gems so that everyone in the top 10 satisfied with the best armor they can get.

i'm sure Gree can make a very good looking armor out of every ideas but people vote based on what they see not what they could visualize from the end product of the ideas submitted.

Finally these are just my suggestions and surely Gree have all the rights to decide what they think are the best and may they come up with more intriguing contents in the near future

Shifter's Mantle

Elements: Wind + Spirit

Helmet: The helmet starts right below the nose and comes up into almost a owl shaped mask with purple feathers every so often an then comes up into a feathered crown. Gold scales and a pure white metal line the outside of the mask.

Torso: A white metal torso with white feathers with purple tips in a line down the torso. The shoulders have HUGE golden metal feathers going everywhere on them and then the rest of the arm is made of pure white metal with purple tipped feathers hanging down from them.

Sword: The sword begins at the base where it has a golden handle with a light purple gem on the bottom of it. The handle goes up into a circular beginning of it with another purple gem in it. Now it goes up to a white blade and at the very end of it it has two tongs.

Shield: ( I'll make this one quick) a circular shield lined with golden feathers. In the center a purple dome with magical essence pouring out of it and surrounding the shield.

Legs: Purple tips feathers make a kilt around the waist and only goes down on the left side to the knee. The rest of the legs look like regular white leg armor except for the knees which have three gold feather on them.

I love this description and I would love to see it as armor. I loved the one I designed too but since it didn't make it up, this is my next favourite!

Conspiracy may be a bit too much without proof, but it's pretty obvious that this was going to be a friend/guild/alliance-voting. It's like that for all contests and it's hard to avoid, because you can't prove that they don't think that your entry is the best one. But anyways, I don't want to be rude but you didn't draw your second entry. Proof? I used to play Aura Kingdom - the game that the model was taken from. And even if you don't play the game, it was oviously a 3D model. As for your first entry, I couldn't find something wrong with it. But the fact that your second entry was disqualified kind of raises suspicions on your first entry. Again, I don't want to be rude. But things should be fair and unless they disqualified your first entry without proof and not your second, you're the one being unfair. ^^

EDIT: Oh and just so you won't think that I'm part of some conspiracy too, I'm actually rooting for Darkscale. Dislike the color scheme of Asgardian, the theme is kind of present in Cryptid, the elements aren't present in the armor at all and I think it lacks the details to actually look like an Epic armor.

Why not introduce both Asgardian Wargear and Darkscale Battlegear to the game. You can impliment both of them for different events in the game. Darkscale Battlegear is bad ass armor so maybe making it a heroic achievement base. Asgardian is more pretty so maybe involving it in some sort of guild war or raid.

I agree with your conspiracy thoery. I think Gree is corrupt and favours certain people and accounts. I think all accounts are categorized. Based on who they like and who spends the most most money. But there is really no way to prove this so i guess its all speculation. I do talk to alot of people on IOS and Android and have noticed alot of funny things that happen in many peoples favor.

Maybe you're right, the armor could fit for a RPG game but still... I worked a lot of time on it. Besides, I made the human-form not the typical KnD knight-form so maybe that's why you're considering this armor for an RPG. Anyway, GREE has a team that works on this kind of designs, so it wouldn't be that hard for them to transform the armor (mine or the Asgardian) into Epic Armor for KnD. Keep in mind that these are only the "blueprints" and they must transform these "blueprints", not the maker
