Hello, MW players!

I'm the producer for MW, and I wanted to introduce you all to a new thing we're going to try: dev notes! I know you guys feel like we're not very good at sharing information, so I'm going to try to keep you up to date with what's going on over here at GREE headquarters.

This week, we're working on a few things:

5.0 Release!

5.0, with a whole bunch of bugfixes, performance improvements, and new features, is coming soon! (A more detailed post on the features is also coming soon.) The iOS build has been submitted to Apple for approval. The Android beta just wrapped up on Sunday, and we're working on smoothing out some rough patches. Some of the features we're introducing will require back-end updates, so we're going to hold the release until both platforms can go live at the same time. (Thank you to our iOS and Android beta testers!)

In the Works

- iOS load time issues (5.0 has lots of improvements, but we're still looking for ways to make it even faster)
- investigating issues that come in through the ticketing system (right now I know the engineers are looking at some counterintuitive WD results and energy purchasing problems, among others)

How's It Work?

I wanted to give you guys some insight into the process we use around here (since someone asked in our last AMA), so I'm going to include a short snippet here about how we do things. This week is "what's a producer, anyway?"

I'm the operations arm of the MW exec team. I make sure that everyone knows what they're supposed to be doing, and how long they think it's going to take them. I set up tickets and meetings, and try to make sure that no one is blocked when they need to get something done. I'm not the person who's picking the features we work on, I'm the person who makes sure that they process of developing them runs forward smoothly. (Alternatively, I'm a raging tyrant who's constantly pestering people for where they're at with whatever they're working on - I suppose it all depends on your perspective!)

Let me know what other questions you'd like answered. I can't promise to answer them all, but I can at least take a look.

Please more details on the new features coming out.

1) minimum requirements for wd prizes to be award while in a faction. Does a leader set up the minimum? What happens if we have a member on vacation? Or time away?

2) will there be valor weapons to buy for our soldiers?

The data consumption is currently enormous. Playing MW while using cellular data is simply out of the question.

Will 5.0 address this issue? If not, do you guys on that end think it is something that can be resolved in a future update, or, is it simply a non-issue?

Could you provide an outline of the postmortem of what went wrong with 4.5.1 & 4.5.2 that has ruined the player experience for so many. That insight will help many of us decide if the go forward product is worth reinvesting in. thank you.

Rather than us try to guess, please tell us what your role is in detail and how your role on the forums will change our experience from clementine and the unpaid useless mods.

I have been locked out after downloading mw 4.5. I am running iOS 8.1.1 on an iPad mini and an iPad 2. I transferred the locked out account from my ipad2 to a working account on my iPad mini. It is now locked out. I started a new account on my ipad2. It is working fine.

Are we sure that version 5 will fix the fix that was pushed out of the fix the fix that was pushed out to fix 4.5.2 which was to fix 4.5.1 which was to fix 4.5?

I don't play MW, but I felt the need to comment on this thread.

"Dev Notes" appears to be a great addition to the forum, however, it is too far beyong long-overdue to be properly appreciated. This type of thread should have been a forum staple launched alongside every newly launched title. Which means you guys are about three years late to start this ball rolling.

Better late than never, I suppose. Now let's see this added to all current Gree titles. At least in some of the other titles there aren't any current issues approaching critical mass... Or is that what it takes to get one of these threads started?

When will enemies be able to see opponents base decorations on IOS platforms?
When will factions be able to buy walls in multiples not 1 at a time.?
Will we ever see the algorithm behind the WD points, is it fair, why did u drop it from 450? 400?
Can u show us data on how much you have suffered from people quitting becuase the game is so messed up?
That's the beginning of a few

Great idea. Fully support this type of information.

I fear RnB will drown with a million PMs, but over time (if things keep improving) this will calm down.

Well done Gree, fingers crossed that Dev Notes will improve everyone's enjoyment of the game

And again we jump right to add this, add that. Adding divisions turned into a 6 week nightmare for many, and you guys want more. I hope they "give" it to you.

Multi gb of data consumed each month, but hey let's see those base decorations! They're important! Mind you many can't even get in the game to see them. And many here wonder why grees priorities are screwed up.

Yes, let's add global chat. Forget that they can't even make FL chat work, but let's add more!

Oh, and those financial statements. Of course someone in development would have those. You really think they are going to provide you with information they would want to HIDE from stockholders?

Just curious, did anybody bother to read what his actually job is? He doesn't decide anything. He's just that middle management guy making sure everyone does what his bosses want done.

C'mon people, be smart about this. Lets make this something useful, not just pester with things that really are not all that important in the grand scheme.

It's nice to finally see some forward movement, but based on some comments about wanting more I feel those needs are misplaced. First and formost the primary issues of players being locked out must be the number one hot button fix, and sadly I believe that the addition of many current features are at the root of the current problems.

All the graphics updated by server pushes is the driving force for high data usage, again people, you want more but the downside is more data usage. Plus the app is severely bloated 2-3gb for documents and data? Really?

And the the question of beta testing, I hope you guys are testing on older devices. In the app store you are still stating that IOS 5 is supported when in fact I know of no players who have downloaded MW 4.5.x on those older devices that can actually access the game. Even those on newer devices are still having issues....

I'm basically the project manager for the game. I manage the schedule and keep track of everyone's workload, along with attending design meetings and working with the community team.

I can't guarantee a specific level of participation in the forums - when I'm here, I'm not working. I'll try to check in now and then, and you'll see me in these threads and in the AMAs.

If this goes well and you guys like it, you might start seeing it for other games, but that's up to the project teams for each game. The producers on both Kingdom Age and Crime City are pretty busy, so I suspect it's going to take a couple iterations of us trying it before they're sold on it as a good idea.

Talking with customers and making them feel like their issues matter is ALWAYS a good idea. Without customers, there's no money, so no need for project managers - or developers

You and the other developers getting active in the communications venue where the players are active is a HUGE step toward keeping us playing the game. So again, thanks.

R&B, not sure how long you have been aware of this forum, or the player's concerns/suggestions that have filled this forum..

One major complaint/suggestion/issue that MANY if not ALL voices that utilize this forum have mostly agreed on one exact topic; we NEED less or fewer events...more downtime.......or, as crazy as this may sound........a break from the constant money grab.

All that being said, it has become clear to me that of all the mentions made about fewer events/more downtime/an occasional break have fallen on deaf (or defiant) ears.

My question: Why a 7 day WD event?
My 2nd question: Who had this idea?
3rd and final question: Whoever had this idea, does that person have any clue that this forum exist.

Please only provide a serious answer, as the issues mentioned above are not recent issues from your players..they are issues that have been here, in this forum, for YEARS. The decision to have a 7 day WD event is a slap in the face, seriously.

A seven day event over one of the major holiday periods (Christmas, Chanukah, New Years, and school break) across the planet, whether one is Baha'i, Confucianist, Christian, Shinto, Sikh, Tao, Muslim, Hindu, Jewish, Atheist, Agnostic, Wiccan, Satanist, Buddhist, nothing, or anything.

There was and is no need for you to take that comment personally. Facts are facts. Respect your paying customers and you'll keep them around for longer, and maybe even attract new ones. The attitude you have just displayed is one of many reasons people decide to stop spending any amount of dollars on Gree products, or not even start in the first place.

I'd like to make a suggestion regarding the Goals folder. You currently have active events listed in the Individual goals tab, making it very cluttered. How about a 3rd tab to list the events and mission plans? That way the individual tab will be as easy to navigate as the faction tab. Nothing new, just a simple means of clearing up some clutter and addressing an issue many people have commented on in various posts.

Nearly blew a rib laughing at your post here mate.. Welcome to the jungle, aka the dirty, aka the forum.... If you or any of the other devs think for one second that your gonna be welcomed with open arms after all issues with this platform then you have either not done your homework and actually read the thousands of pages of pi ssed of customers or the mods have not passed on our overall satisfaction.

So a couple of choices you have as I see it... If you want to continue to come to the dirty then grow some thicker skin and take your lumps because quite frankly you and everyone on your team deserve every single one of them. With that said it should be noted that because this game is now so f'd up, all the most recent good/cool things done are so over shadowed by constant debacles of each event. Of course the next choice would be never return here again or at least not until you and your MW team have something to hang your hat on..... In other words be game of choice to your "PAYING" customers...

Having a message all button for the leader and officers would be great. It's time consuming having to post the same message on 60 walls.
Also having a co-leader is good too.
A way to build multiple walls.

Co-leader isn't a bad idea, but more often than not, rather unnecessary as you can pass leadership around. A message all button though, who uses the in game chat anyway? It's small and hard to read, has a ridiculous character limit, and is filled with junk from all of the donations & declarations. There are far better external options.

If you could work out a way iOS users could delete the cache without the need to delete and reinstall the game it might be the single best thing you could do right now. I don't know the situation with Android devices, but those too if needed. The games get awfully bloated very fast. Thanks for starting this Dev Notes thing. :)

IOS doesn't cache data in the sense that I think you are describing. Funzio built the documents and data file into the game which contains game data and graphics. Lots and lots of data, mine is currently just over 3.2GB and though I can go into the system and nuke it, just like taxes it keeps comeing back so you wind up having to redownload the entire mess depending on how long you have been playing which bumps up your data useage. On IOS the app seems to need at least 1GB of free memory in order to load properly especially when new data is being pushed from their servers.

The other issue with 4.5.2 is that there may be corrupted data or incompatible data in the current data set which causes the game to choke when it tries to rebuild a deleted dataset. This is what I believe is the root cause of log in issues with players on non IOS 8 devices at the moment. So removing that dataset can lock you out if you had been limping along up to this point, I proved this on two of my three identical iPod touch 4th gens and a test iPad 1st gen by updating to 4.5.2 and subsequently bricking them as far as this app is concerned.

On the Android side, the app does not flush updates properly and as a result as time goes on these updates use up all your available storage space and must be manually deleted. One sidenote to this is that low memory (system) not storage suffer a lot from drawing issues because they cannot load all the graphics required by the app to display your base! This has been an ongoing issue on one of our test devices for over a year.

All I ask for is what people have been asking for a long time now...

GOLD USE CONFIRMATION BUTTON!

True that!

RnB, This should've been done when each object & process was initially coded, at the beginning of the build of the game. Even better, there should've been a gold switch installed in the settings page that enables the user to turn off all gold spending until it is needed or desired to spend gold. The 2 ideas will work great together. Those who don't want to fuss with the switch can just leave it on. Not having this is liable. There r several issues in the game that cause unwanted expenditure of gold, including a bug n the WDE that eats gold without the option to spend gold ever being called to come up. The answer to tickets about the bug or any refund request is the normal- "We can't help u with that." & "Ticket closed." & sometimes with comments that r completely irrelevant. This = intend to rob with no intent to make it right. It feels more like a laugh followed by "try to make us do it, suckerrr!"
RnB, I'm not one to insult people and don't intend to put u guys down. I know that u r n a tough position being squeezed from all sides n your job possition. However, I just want u to know that it is very insulting to us to b robbed & slapped n the face for expected it to b made right. This is only one of the problems among many others stated & not stated n this thread. I've watched MW get worse & worse as a program because of the lack of foresight to prevent problems like this robbing of gold issue. That lack of foresight or care (or whatever may b the cause from your bosses) has grown into the current state of mayhem. It's the same problem, just closer to critical mass. The only thing that I've seen greatly improve is the FL event, which went from flop after flop to a reasonably fun event that doesn't need my constant attention.
A tiny fraction of the time that went into planning or creating aspects of any event, including FL, could have been used to create a simple gold switch in settings that would greatly reduce customer remorse & ticket volume. Well, I actually gave up on creating tickets. That is one way to reduce the load & increase revenue.
That said, it is my foolish decision to waste my valuable time on such a game. It would b better if it were at least a player strategy game rather than a company revenue strategy game, but still my decision.
At a minimum, I hope things improve on the integrity side.
Have fun

Wonder how much accidental gold has been spent in MW.

For the sake of this example, let's undershoot this estimate and say that 500,000 bars of gold have been spent in error.

Excluding 'gold program' gold, this equates to approximately 333 vaults of gold, spent in error. Again, assuming no bonus gold in the equation, 333 vaults of gold spent in error equals $32,967 of wasted money from the consumer.

.....I can give you 32,967 reasons why there has never been a 'gold confirm' button, or process in place...

Me as well as several others would like to see a change in the game level rewards. I'm over level 600, and the reward has never changed. After level 100 most players activity drops because there is no real incentive. I would be willing to bet if the rewards matched the effort, you would see more people playing to level up.

i´d really prefer you (Gree) would listen to your customers. There are a lot of issues to be fixed. Several suggestions have been made. But it seems noone reads them. Instead of that you come up with things that are even contra-productive.

Is Gree Stuff working between x-mas and new years eve? i am just asking because i am pretty sure there will be a lot of bugs with mw5.0, events will not work as intended. Your support knows about mw5.0? You are all there to fix things, answer questions and see if it´s gonna run?

personally I know gree is more concerned with the players that have been locked out . But heres something gree should also think about. Factions that had half the team or even a quarter had to work twice as hard to make up for the loss of the members locked out. I am leader of a top 250 and I usually score around 100-150k wd. this war to hold our place I had to double that and yes I did it barely. But other members of my team also had to double up. The lock out has majorly inconvienced the players locked out but has also cost the teams they are apart of.. So Gree what are you going to do for the teams as well as the players that were locked out?

personally I know gree is more concerned with the players that have been locked out .

This baffles me, why on Earth would you spend double if half the team is locked out???????. I would of instructed my entire team to spend none until every single member was back online. Rewarding bad behaviour reinforces it. If their profits don't drop they won't react. especially for a couple of extra Atk/Def boosts...sit it out!, not spend more of your hard earned!. I know you want your team to do well but principles should come first. I think you need to reflect a little on what's important.

As to the thread topic, mr bruises...I seen earlier you got testy as someone got "snarky". Remember you have come to our backyard. If the troops roll through a new country but the troops before them did as they pleased and completely disrespected the locals any new troops get to sleep in the bed that the old troops made. Don't look at any snarky/negative comments as atks on you, they are the result of your colleagues actions. I would of thought this to be pretty darn obvious (read five threads and you will know what the community thinks of GReE reps).

Please, do not be discouraged...your mates have slapped us in the face for a couple years so like an abused dog we are wary and not very trusting. No one that has come before you has brought anything other than words. We need open communication backed by consistent and positive action. You don't write the dog of cause its been kicked in the guts so many times and now won't snuggle up and get all cuddly with you initially. You put the hard yards in, you show that you can be trusted and won't kick him/her in the head then use abuse and neglect him/her whilst living off his/her labours. Seriously, if you can't ignore a few barks you won't be of any use to anybody around these parts.

We are loyal and we remember what your mates have done to us for years. You want to turn it around, ignore the barks, reward the positive behaviours and do your job (I know you may think you are personally going above and beyond by creating and participating in this thread...but to us you are apart of a dysfunctional machine that should of had this cog in place from the start). Online games are about communities.

Seriously write down some tangible goals and achieve them. Please make #1 listen to us (to make this tangible gather written info from us, then when you achieve it post a new thread with our old comments and how your actions have aligned exactly with that). Aim to be doing your job so well, that we create thank you threads (we have in the past and when you do good some of us more experienced forum members jump on this as we wish to reinforce that behaviour).

Seriously, everyone who has come and gone before have had the best of intentions. intentions are good but we need actions. CJ and Tadaaah are 2 who come to mind. Both well meaning, both have made one or two lil blips on the radar but on the whole...if they never came at all things would basically be the same as they are now. If you want cred...make it the before the bruises era and the post bruises era.

Less events and a day off (server maintenance and fixing gree boo boos could be done in this time) per cycle would be brilliant. Gold confirms is a massive issue, i personally have written off over 3 vaults of gold in accidental clicks due to game dysfunctions (pop up screens which load in the middle of other actions where you purchase crates as there is not a gold confirm and many more...then insult to injury the company won't refund you as it's 'gambling' and they don't refund gambling, I'd love all gambling removed from this unrestricted age game).

I'm running on an iPad 1 and highest IOS i can upgrade to is 5.1.1 and I'm locked out of the game. 3 years running here. Am I screwed now and have to throw this game away now? I am not spending the money on a new IOS device just to continue playing. Please let those of us know whether the new 5.0 update will let us play again on older devices. It's all I want to know.
