Stop XP gain when players attack me

I find it very annoying that when a player attacks me and I gain XP! Why do I get stitched up twice?

I read this in another forum and thought it worthy of being highlighted here.

You should only get XP if you WIN the fight. So if someone attacks you and you loose then nothing to worry about.

Its always been like that...In most games XP is a good thing and it makes sense that you would gain XP by winning. Obviously XP isn't a good thing (although its actually much better than it used to be with the way the game has changed)
