View Full Version : Skill Points as Prizes

There is no real reason this can't be done. Its a good thing we get consumables as prizes but getting like 10 skill points a LTQ would be huge. Since the only other way to get them is mastering maps, this would be a nice change to LTQs since you're attacking NPCs anyway.

I like this idea. I still think gree can salvage the concept of skill points too... Here is an idea... Make the "attack" and "defense" a boost. For example, for each 4 attack points you get a 1% alliance attack boost. For each 4 defense points you get a 1% alliance defense boost. Couple this change with the current use of skill points for LTQ and maybe the return of PvP and all-of-a-sudden the skill points are relevant. Add in Pidgeots great idea and you can enhance the skill point system. And, of course, given the revamp of the system (I.e., what I just suggested) allow a one-time reallocation for free (but maybe prohibit further reallocations or make them really gold expensive given that if it were just 50 gold for future reallocations you'd quickly see guys paying the 50 gold to move into energy right before an ltq then moving the points back for WD).

Anyway, neat idea Pidgeot.

Very good idea if quantity is high enough. And lvl 300's need to be able to make use.

A serious question here. They haven't been able to make them work correctly for two years now, and can't even get long time events to run without issue anymore (and then lie about it). What makes you think they could all of a sudden make them work? They've even admitted they don't know how to make an alliance defense work.

On to the rest, you are already gaining level after level just for doing the LTQ's and getting the resulting skill points. So the only real benefit is to level 300's. It would be a lot easier to just raise the cap.

I would suggest the replacement of the useless Allies prize in the LTQ with Pidgeot's idea of skill points (beginners 3/normal 5/Prestige 7/Masters 10) or something along those lines as the prize drop in the different levels.... something that most of us could actually use.

Or instead, they could just allow a one time redistribution. I would like to go back and transfer the skill points wasted by so many players on attack and defense and allow us to spend it on energy/stamina

The only reason skill points don't work is that there is no profit to be had in figuring it out how to make them work.

Everyone has got used to them not being part of the game, so how does Gree make money from paying a dev to sit and pick apart the code to fix it? It's not in their interest to do it. So get over that idea.

Besides, it's not as if it was ever explained how they were supposed to work in the first place. Back in the good ole days when the world was young and before insane stat inflation, when a 2/2 a/d unit actually made it into your army, before energy sapping LTQ's and other faction events, attack and defence skill points may simply have been designed to be additive to your score in the background, hidden from your opponent. Imagine how useful that would be now.

Just trying to do what I can to make the game more fun and balanced

Gree needs to fix what's broken before adding or changing anything else.

It does lose them money. Newbies start out wasting skill points on atk/def and then they figure out they don't work. If a mechanic as simple as that doesn't work then newbies don't have confidence to invest their entertainment moneys in a broken game.

As it's never explained how it works, no one would ever figure out that it doesn't work. They just merely assume its doing something nebulous and mysterious in the background. It's only here on the forums that word has got out that it makes SFA difference, and even then from players - not mods.

And the bait to spend money is the barrage of glittery pixels players are inundated with, coupled with peer pressure to spend in pursuit of the common goal of even more glittery pixels.

and I couldn't agree more that gree needs to fix the broken things before deploying new things. But the broken things don't really help get that pie-eyed spendfest buzz churning. Only us old and bitter vets see what happens over time and know what really needs fixing, and we've been either burned too often, or are addicted and spend anyway, often both. The new content is the bait to get people spending, so will always get priority over fixing redundant/broken content.

skill points actually do things in attack. when you fight the raid bosses.

two people in my faction proved this. one had 333 atk points, one had 332. the person with 332 had 30million more attack (est). however, the person with the 333 atk points does more damage against raid bosses by a few million.

What is the stat range on those accounts?

Are you sure this isn't due to the extra allies boost and not skill points?

Almost impossible to have two same accts - RB halth is deducted by your player's RAW stats = NO boosts in play at all - only naked stats. So if both have even slightly different boosts or raw stats - skill points won't make ANy difference whatsoever [unless some mod will pop-up saying that it does or actually depends upon how much land you own... - hint to a recent lame raids explanation that your army defense doesn't work, only BUILDINGS' defense lmao]

Here is a calculation I think would be fair use of Att/def points

Level squared x points squared x inflator variable (set to 1).

The inflator variable would be set at 1 to start with, but over time as gree inflates units, to keep the points valuable this value could be increased.

An example using level 300 player with 50 attack.

300x300x50x50x1= 225m

So this player would get an additional 225m stats in either def or att

This calculation takes into account level and points, would help to attempt to make having a higher level slightly benificial since currently having higher level is a negative.

Except you once again punish high stat players that way. A level 300 with 10b attack gets a 2% boost while one with only 1b gets a 20% boost.
